Words for this week's 10-word challenge:  postulate, lamp, lucky, fatalistic, politics, call me a cab, broken, intermittent, snake oil salesman, drill  and for the mini: far-flung, exchange, crevice, fluid, chasten

My mega:

For the next few days after his misadventure in the Hall of Shadow Boxing, Fred Johnson, Paragon of Virtue for the Kingdom of Sunday, remained in his bed while Bubbles and Healer McFlash intermittently plied him with soups, fluids and an assortment of herbs and potions.  Perhaps feeling somewhat chastened about what was either extreme carelessness on his part or a failed attempt at murder, Count Psycho was keeping a mercifully low profile. This gave Fred and his two caretakers time to exchange ideas on a far-flung range of topics. In addition, the pair tried to drill as much information as possible into his weary mind about Psycho, the Fortress of Festering Fear and the social mores and politics of Sunday.  He grew increasingly fond of crafty old McFlash, who, he realized, was a gifted doctor with a healthy dash of snake oil salesman to make the medicine go down smoother.  His dreams were still somewhat troubled. One night after a particularly troubled sleep, he woke up shouting, "call me a cab," and found the lamp next to his bed shattered and broken on the floor. He was also becoming increasingly aware of a difference in world view between himself and his new friends. While he felt his surviving his misadventure in the Hall of Shadow boxing was "lucky," Bubbles and the healer were rather more fatalistic about it. On the morning of the fourth day of his recovery, seeing a plume of purple smoke rising from somewhere on the far side of the river, Bubbles and McFlash - after a hushed and somewhat animated discussion - postulated that it was a sign. "We think you are well enough," they said in perfect unison, "to have your introduction to the Dragon of the Crevice." The purple smoke is a signal. You are to be granted  an audience."

My mini:

Dragon of the Crevice?,  Fred stuttered, feeling excited and chastened at the same time.  "I'm going to meet a dragon?"  On the far-flung list of possibilities he had imagined since becoming Paragon of Virtue, that he might one day see, none-the-less exchange words with, a dragon had not even crossed his mind. He leapt out of bed with one fluid motion, feeling more alive than he had in days. "Let's go!" he exclaimed, practially jumping up and down with excitement. Giggling, Bubbles looked at him and said quietly. "You might want to get dressed first. Dragons are rather serious about ritual and ceremony." Blushing, Fred sat down quickly. Might be a good idea to have some breakfast and learn a little bit about dragons, I guess. A Dragon, though. I can't believe I'm going to meet a real, live dragon. In my world they are only myths or memories. He's not going to eat me, is he?"  "She," Bubbles laughed, "has never, to the best of my knowledge eaten any human and certainly not a Paragon of Virtue."

My 10-word:

The journey to the Dragon's cave was not an easy one. The trio faced intermittent rain storms and the path itself was steep and rocky.  After about three hours of walking, Fred stopped in his tracks with a puzzled look on his face. "You know when I had that dream where I woke up yelling "call me a cab and manged to give you a broken lamp to clean up?" "Hard to forget, my boy," McFlash replied. "What of it?"  "Well, I think I was standing here in my dream." "But of course!" the snake oil salesman (as Fred fondly called the healer) cried out excitedly. "Bubbles! Did you hear? Did you hear?" he shouted excitedly.  "He has the gift," the old man postulated, as much to himself as to anyone else. "He has the gift!" he shouted again. "Didn't I tell you? She spoke to him!"  Bubbles, for her part, was beaming from ear to ear and nodding with that fatalistic - maybe inscrutable was a better word - look her face took on from time to time. She turned to gaze at the Paragon and her eyes seemed to drill into him as though trying to see into the depths of his soul. After a moment or two, she said quietly. "Few are in this life are lucky enough to be able to communicate with a dragon in this way. It is a great honor that she has contacted you in this way... and another sign that your destiny is one of greatness." As Fred blushed (this was becoming a habit it seemed), she paused and with a troubled look said. Psycho must not know of this. It would not be good politics for him to discover this. He both hates and fears the Dragons. If he knew you were a Dragon Whisperer, he would kill you outright." "Isn't he planning to do that in any case," Fred asked.  "It would happen faster," she replied. "Ah," Fred sighed. "Guess we had better hope he doesn't find out, then."

Daily Reminder # 505

My day began with a rainbow this morning as I looked out the k

Well, I want to share some of the material from the Healing with the Masters call with Marci Shimoff because I thought it was just wonderful and material that pretty much anyone or everyone could use.  The audio is still up for the moment, I think, so if you have an hour, I really hope you will listen, but just in case people can't, I really wanted to share what I could remember of this wonderful material.  Marci Shimoff is the author of a couple of books Happy for No Reason and Love for No Reason, so the topic for the call was love and forgiveness.

One of the early things she said was that "love is a physiological state we can live in."  She then went on to share three "love Mantras."

The first mantra is: Love is who we are. (It is our nature and our essence.)

The second mantra is:  The purpose of our life is to love. (It is the whole reason we are on the planet.)

The third mantra is:  The portal to love is the heart.

A couple of quotes I liked from the interview:

"Our job is not to create love, because love is who we are, but to remove blocks to letting that vibration flow."  She then offered an easy heart connection exercise that takes about 3-5 minutes and can be done anywhere, any time.

"When you are angry for 5 minutes it will suppress your immune system for 5-6 hours."

Then she talked about how we all have happiness set points - if you win the lottery, you may be really happy for a time but then you will revert to your happiness set point unless  you work to shift what that set point is. Same is true for love.  Next she offered this exercise for raising the heart set point.  It's called The Love Response. Very simple.  You can do it with eyes open or closed.

Begin (step 1) by putting palm of  your hand over your heart. That immediately raises the level of oxytocin in the body. Then begin (step 2) breathing through your heart. Depending on what works best for you picture or sense your breath coming going in and out through the center of your heart.  Finally (step 3) imagine that you are breathing in love, compassion, ease....   It's as simple as that. she recommend that you try doing it 3x a day for 2 weeks and see if you feel a difference in your state of mind. She adds that when you do it as a regular practice, just putting your hand over your heart automatically shifts your state of mind.

Then she talked (I think) about forgiveness and a Hawaiian tradition called Ho'oponopono (really hard to spell). It's a practice I had heard of before in which families or communities gather to practice forgiveness and heal rifts in the family. This version is a mantra -like version you can use for self-healing.  (Forgiveness is about healing yourself, not the other person).  Anyway, her version involves the following prayer/mantra consisting of four phrases:  I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank You. I love  you.

She talked about using the ho'oponopono when she was have a quarrel with her sister. They weren't speaking and they were at a family gathering to help their aging mother move from the family home. They were avoiding eye contact and each other. She was feeling miserable about it and left the house to get some air, remembered this exercise and went and sat in her car, doing the prayer once for her sister and once for herself. At the end felt something release and said she realized that her sister wasn't mad at her about what they had quarreled about but about a life-time of things and she was able to see things more from her sister's perspective. The really amazing thing though was when she went back into the house she didn't say anything about what she had done or even approach her sister, but after about 5 minutes her sister came over and took her hand and said "come on, let's go pack up mom's closet."  There's more to the story, but that's gives an idea.

She talked about a South African woman at the Truth and Reconciliation healings who was asked to confront a police officer who had tortured and murdered her husband and son while she watched. He did not deny doing this. Said he was obeying orders and doing what he was told to do. She was asked to share what restitution she wanted. First, she asked for the location of the bodies of her husband and son so that she could give them a proper burial. Second, she said that because she was a Christian, she believed in forgiveness and she wanted him to know that she forgave him. Lastly, she said, "I am a mother with heart full of love and no one to give to give that love to, so I want to adopt you as my son, so that I may give you the love I have in my heart." At this point the police officer fainted. When he regained consciousness, he replied, "I absolutely accept your offer."    I think that story is so amazing. I'm sure she expressed it better, but hope you get the sense of it.

She then led the group through an exercise called The Divine Grace and Divine Forgiveness Prayer, which she learned from a woman named Elena Lieberman. She combines it with a hand exercise which I think she learned from somebody else but my notes are a little garbled. This is my favorite exercise of the ones she talked about. It is to help clear body mind and spirit and it just felt really good to me. It's the main reason I wanted to share all of this.  The words of the prayer are as follows:

If there is anyone or anything that has hurt me in the past knowingly or unknowingly I forgive and release it.  If I have hurt anyone in the past knowingly or unknowingly, I forgive and release it. I ask for the highest good for everyone and myself and I forgive myself.

This prayer is repeated 3 times, once with each of the following hand actions.

First position:  Take the thumb of your right hand and place it lightly on the center of the palm of the left hand, a spot known as the Main Grace Point.  This point releases any contracted energy in your system focuses system on insights, and helps create positive reference points and new insights. Say the prayer: If there is anyone or anything that has hurt me in the past knowingly or unknowingly I forgive and release it.  If I have hurt anyone in the past knowingly or unknowingly, I forgive and release it. I ask for the highest good for everyone and myself and I forgive myself.

Second position: Take the thumb of your right hand and place it lightly on the outside of the hand below the pinky finger - about half way down.  This is the body release point and releases any stuck energy in the body, any issues, judgments, beliefs or emotions stuck in the body so the flow of life is restored. Say the prayer: If there is anyone or anything that has hurt me in the past knowingly or unknowingly I forgive and release it.  If I have hurt anyone in the past knowingly or unknowingly, I forgive and release it. I ask for the highest good for everyone and myself and I forgive myself.

Third position: Take the thumb and forefinger of the right hand and lightly grip the webbing between the thumb and fore-finger of the left hand.  This is the Genetic or ancestry Lineage point and  releases issues, judgments, beliefs and emotions passed down through our DNA or taken on through family connections.  Say the prayer:  If there is anyone or anything that has hurt me in the past knowingly or unknowingly I forgive and release it.  If I have hurt anyone in the past knowingly or unknowingly, I forgive and release it. I ask for the highest good for everyone and myself and I forgive myself.

I just love that... and I felt like it was truly powerful.

There was a little bit more, but I think maybe I'll leave it at that and do gratitude.

Daily Reminder # 502

Well, today was chilly and quiet. I spent too much time and Huffington Post again. I'm still deeply troubled by the virulent racism and hate being expressed with increasing openness. I guess it's better to have it overt than covert, but it's still yucky. Then there is the hope and excitement that Occupy Wall Street inspires. And my anxiety about the contractor who said he will come "some time this week" to fix the Angel gate. I'm SO anxious about it. In my head he is mad at me and I have done wrong and on and on.  On top of that, I'm pretty sure he turned my furnace off when he did the electric work so I have to ask him to fix that and again the voices in my head are taking turns beating me up and imagining hostile scenarios. It's exhausting. And of course I'm getting a bit anxious that he won't turn it back on, or that that isn't the problem, or...  Since the weatherizing people cleaned and repaired it shortly before D&N came and did his work and since they accidentally turned it off, probably that's what happened. I hope. I just wish it was behind me.
I should add that I think the weatherizing that Delaware Opportunities did for me last Spring is going to make it a much nicer winter. The house has felt snug even without my furnace and temperatures dipping down towards freezing.

My neighbor is home from prison so my lawn got mowed for the first time in at least 2 months and the last time this season. Trees have a little color, more than I thought we were going to get, but not the magnificent nature art of other years.

I should probably share a Neale Donald Walsch but I don't feel like making the effort.  I'm brooding with yet another desire. Wondering whether if I got a Kindle, I might read more than I am doing at present. I love reading but I just can't seem to motivate myself to pick up a book and I can't really afford to buy a lot of books in any case. But am I that much of a computer junkie? Would I spend $80 that I don't have and just have another unused thing collecting dust? Or would it spur me to read again.  I don't know. But the craving is there. Time will tell. I wish I'd win Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes. Maybe next month.  But for now...

MAY YOU HAVE A GRAND AND GLORIOUS DAY!

Missed a Day

Got caught up in other things last night and forgot about the Daily Reminder, then got up late this morning and a couple of phone calls later, think this will just be a day off.  What I have been caught up in is reading and responding to comments on the President's speech at the Martin Luther King Memorial dedication yesterday. They were heart-breaking in their ugliness and racism. Many, if not most, were paid "trolls," but they were truly disturbing and while pretending to honor Dr. King, were laced with hate and racism.  Here's my little ceremony... The President's speech and a rousing We Shall Overcome from Joan Baez.

and this is the President's speech.

and Joan B.

Adding this late. I hope it goes viral.

PEACE!

Daily Reminder # 501

I've had a really lovely day today.  I finally got up late and tried out my adorable new coffee maker. It is VERY, VERY slow, but it's so cute. After my big antique 12-cup machine, this little 4-cup machine looks like toy to me. It doesn't have a wire filter like I thought it was supposed to, so I'll have to remedy that, but it makes coffee even if it does it so at about one drop every 10 minutes.  Then this afternoon I listened to the on-line feed of the teleconference I mentioned yesterday. It was quite inspiring - 14 speakers sharing visions for the future and for healing the planet.  They offered some additional links which look interesting, though I haven't really explored them yet. The first is The Global Conversation which is affiliated with Neale Donald Walsch and the other that seemed really interesting was one called Peace.org.  After that was done, I finally faced up to the set of totally impossible words that I came up with for this week's wordzzles. Once I got past being totally blocked, I kind of had a good time. And I have been having great fun at Huffington Post, talking about Occupy Wall Street, a movement which gives me both hope and joy and gives people from the Tea Party heart burn, apparently.  Oh - and even though the weather has been miserable and my windows are too dirty to do them justice, we have had some Fall colors after all. I would try to wax more profound, but I have to go back to Huffington Post and stir up a little more trouble.

Some things I'm grateful for today: (Items in red are pre-gratitude, an effort to inspire the Creative Forces of the Universe to hear and embrace our gratitude and respond to it by supplying us with that for which we have already given thanks... and more.)
