This week's prompt from One Single Impression is Laughter. Great prompt and I just had a really hard time with it, so I decided to try and be "artsy," in hopes that nobody would notice...
I love both the photos and poems. And I agree, laughter is a great prompt. Although I don't always have time to comment I'm enjoying reading your blog!
lisa at greenbow - thanks so much. I do like the one of abigail... makes laugh and me realize that I miss her... though I have two wonderful youngster kitties to entertain me.
riversongs - thanks. I love the kitty picture too. Abby was a trooper and a character.
mandy - thanks... I really did have a great laugh when I was a kid. I keep wishing I could get it back.
dianne - you always feed my ego... I'm working on myself to make a commitment to stop apologizing. It's an old habit and a bad one.
Alas, my mother really did terrorize that laugh out of me. "You'll be crying by bedtime she'd say - and she'd make sure I was." It was such a miraculous laugh too. I so want it back.
Abby really was a beauty... she hung in there with me until she knew I was safe, I think. What a girl.
shijnana - thanks for visiting. So glad you are around even without comment.
tumbleweeds - "glorious!" What a cool compliment. Thank you.
kim - thanks... it's not that current laugh is bad, it's that what I think of as the buddah laugh of my childhood was magical to me. It came from nowhere - I didn't have to be laughing at or because of anything - and it took everyone with it. It literally rolled out of me. I still miss it. But thanks for saying I have a glorious laugh. Gee that's two gloriouses this afternoon.
michael - Abby, who was also known as "the antique kitty" (among many nicknames) was quite a girl. She was very shy for much of her life and only found her "mini-moose" voice in her mid teens. She stopped being shy after her companion kitty Katrina died. Guess she figured it was her turn to shine. She wrote a couple of poems in her later years. Maybe I'll post one of them as a poem of the week one day soon.
snoopmurph - glad I made you smile. Wasn't Abby just as sweet as could be? She sometimes literally fell into her food by the time she was 21, but she seemed to enjoy it.
oh my, your laughter rings outloud with your "artsy" photos... flows like a running river... no problems that i can see... now that cat... they can be so charming... who knew... almost as good as a dog... kidding.. i luved them all.. if i had to pick "starved my spirit...".. felt kinship w/that one...
You may have had a difficult time with the theme, but I just totally love what you created. They are all so different in tone and the type of smile they provoke from me. Do I choose a "favorite"? No. But the starving spirit poem struck home with me personally. The kitty goo scared me and made me laugh at the predicaments they get into. The Buddha is actually comforting. The mom one? I treasure it. Is that you? Whoever that girl is, she is gorgeous and happy.
pearl - thanks... I'm still trying to reclaim that laugh real buddah laugh... it was so much fun to laugh that way...
one more believer - "almost as good as a dog..." Them's fightin words... (just kidding). If you aren't already familiar with it, check out The Daily Puppy.
andree and michael - thanks for all your kind words. The first one IS a photo of me back when the world was young. I was probably about 8. The laugh had not been terrorized out of me yet.
I'm 70 years old going on twelve or sometimes 6, it depends on the day. Then again, sometimes I feel like I'm 110. I'm agoraphobic, permanently disabled. I live an odd life, but a relatively happy one. I have two cats, Merlin and Melissa. They are brother and sister and therefore known (it's a joke) as The Twins. They were 3 years old on May 7th.

The look on that kitty's face! I had to laugh.
Very good set.
Great post! I just have to study first on how to go about the meme. I think it is fun and can be a sourse of laughter.
Take care!
Blog hopping here!
Yes, a beautiful poem with pictures!
Very nice post and entertaining
Laughter, feeding a starving spirit, how true.
It doesn't seem that you had trouble with this prompt Raven. I like them all. Such good photos to go with each poem.
It's hard to tell you had any trouble with this. You did a wonderful job! Love the kitty pic.
I like the phrase "brazen Bhudda laugh"
"hoping nobody notices" - It's impossible not to notice you Raven. Every post, poem, story is art.
The young girl who scared her Mom hurt my heart a bit.
Abby was beautiful in all her aged childlike glory!
and hey - Buddah is a rock star!

The first one is my favorite. These are wonderful offerings. Thank you.

All great offerings. I liked the Buddha ones very much!
laughter lines
I like them all. I agree with Riversongs, doesn't look like you had a problem at all. What is your cat enjoying so much?
Those are great. I love that first one. If this is the great stuff you can come up with when you have a hard time...great!
spacedlaw... thanks... Abby was a trooper. Really quite literally "got into" her food in her last couple of years.

sandycarlson - thanks. I was tempted to leave the last line off the first one, but I went with bitterness.
guatami tripathi - thank you
gardenpath - thanks for your kindness. Abigail (who tended to fall into her food in her dotage) was enjoying a special treat of baby food squash.

I enjoyed most the poem about you as a little girl.:)
I liked all of your haiku and photos, but especially the one of the cat! I even called my husband over to see it.
joyce - thank you... glad you liked it.
rae trigg... high praise indeed. Abby and I are honored and she is no doubt feeling all these compliments from the great beyond and purring loudly.
Laughter is good for the soul and your words make me smile. Hard not to notice!
And the kitty picture really made me laugh too!

what a gorgeous set! i especially like your expression of the idea that laughter satisfies our hunger
That first one would have been sufficient, but then you kept putting wonderful ones out there. They're all great.
Each one is more awesomer than the preceding one. I loved them all and the photos were just perfect!!
qualcosa di bella, patois, teri c - you are all so extravagantly kind. Hope you aren't going to pop back later and shout April Fools!
Thank you each and all for your visit and your kind words.
Good to hear your taking your buddha laugh back and letting it rip.
