One Single Impression: Gift

This week's prompt for One Single Impression was "gift." It's been a while since I participated. Too immersed in politics and feeling irritable. I have a longer poem cooking in my head but I'm too distracted to finish it at the moment. Mixed bag here, not sure there are any gifts. You can click on them to make them larger and easier to read.

I really can't wait
Surely it will be a gift
When all votes are cast
When election day has passed
And a choice - for good or ill - is made

Wonderful array of takes on the prompt, especially like the line about love always being stronger than hate, no matter how stong hate may be. And that cupcake - yum! Happy Birthday!

thanks Deborah - birthday was in July, but I kept the photographic souvenir.

A perfect selection here, covering many areas of life.
Can I have some of the cake, please? ;-)

I loved them all. I particularly liked the last one with the thought that love is stronger than hate.

You certainly don't seem to be at a loss for words Raven. Enjoyed all of these, very much especially Tara Grace (natch and Mr. C seconds the motion!)

Your Autumn haiku poem is lovely and inspiring!

I relate to the obsession/irritation with politics. I am both looking forward to it being over and dreading it being over (fears about Obama not getting elected, and fears of what might happen in reactions from certain sectors if he does get elected). I like your collection of poetic thoughts -- always love the kitty cats (we lost one of ours this month to cancer, so now our feline contingent is only nine). I think as poetry and photography the "layers of color" works the best. But it is the last poem speaks to me on a deeper level.

I always love your poetry and I love the photos you used to accompany them. I love Tara Grace and her poem. Great effect on the photo.
Is that Shannon in the faded photo?
Great image. It reminds me of Cindy and Smokey when they were both small. It made me smile - I needed that. Not everybody lets a cat kiss them. :)

I'll take the chocolate cupcake for my BDay, thank you.
I'm not sure what will be in store for my birthday, I'm in Guatemala for it again this year.
Last year it was a cake and a piƱata and oodles of kids to help celebrate.
..
I'm glad you are writing poems and posting them, I gave up on politics and am voting Green this year. You could join me. :-)

Raven, I've been here reading but don't always have time to leave a note. I actually thought of the poem you wrote about Tara Grace last night when I was going to sleep. It really touched me. And, I want to print out your first piece and paste it to my fridge. Amen. I always enjoy the variety of images you create with these prompts.

So many bits of wisdom. Just an hour ago, my friend said almost the same words you used in your first poem. I do believe we are all ready for this election to be resolved.

The art in the third poem is most interesting.

Dear Raven--
I loved this collection of gifts--especially the one about
Tara Grace. As the caretaker of a rescued pet, I feel such wonder and gratitude at G-dog's trust...

Thank you for all of these--and for your big-juicy-heart!

a kaleidescope of beauty you have offered. there is nothing like the gift of a contented kitty's purr, or a dog curled trustingly at your feet on a cold eve.
