Daily Reminder # 458

Just gratitude today.  I really miss having pictures. I don't know if it's that there are none to be taken or if it's just that I have gone into the pity void. Time will tell, I guess. Recycled pictures from the past. Was taking too long to come up with anything else.

Daily Reminder # 457

This is not my own photo.... I borrowed it from  the YNN News Photo gallery
of the flood damage here in Upstate New York. This is looking like it may
match the devastating 200 year floods we had back in 2006.
The photographer is Justin Parsons

Much rain here. Up on my little hill, I am safe so far, but there is serious flooding in the towns around and in parts of Hancock. It's supposed to keep raining for three more days... and of course there are more hurricanes to come with more rain. Still, those in the GOP will continue to declare that climate change is some kind of Democratic plot. Strange world we live in.  Neale Donald Walsh has been on a roll the past couple of days.  This one is a profound truth that speaks to reality beyond war. I think it is just as true of emotional violence. One of the consistent themes of the Masters class tapes I've been listening to is that the energy you put out is profoundly important and comes back to you. The place I have the most difficulty applying this is in the realm of politics. I get so cranky. I lose my capacity for seeing the good. I try, but I succeed way less than I'd like to. Anyway.... here's Neale's message from God.

On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
...that peace cannot come to this world until you are
convinced that violence will never produce it.

Hurt does not heal hurt. Violence will not bring an end
to violence. Help the world to understand this by
reacting differently, responding newly, when anger and
a need to hurt you is sent your way.

You will have such an opportunity in your life. And
probably, more than once. Do not miss the chance
to humbly send a message of love.

Love, Your Friend....
neale

Forgotten Daily Reminder # 456

I FORGOT!
I JUST COMPLETELY FORGOT!

It has been raining all day so I can't even say my head was just in the clouds. I've got no excuse. I just plain completely forgot.
I try to be a super-heroine but sometimes (well always)
I just fall short.

Hope you all had a lovely day.

Daily Reminder # 455

I almost forgot to do the daily reminder today!  Almost wish I had completely forgotten because I don't have any pictures or a thought in my head that's of any interest. It's gray and damp and cool and except that it's still green out, has a winter look to the sky, the sign that another year is dashing past at break-neck speed. Guess it's just going to be a gift from You Tube - Judy Collins - and gratitude.

Some things I'm grateful for today: (Items in red are pre-gratitude, an effort to persuade the Creative Forces of the Universe that they really meant to bring me a clothes dryer, a truckload of money, flowers and Nintendo and just forgot....so that they will rush all those things and more to me asap.)

Daily Reminder # 454

Since it's Labor Day here in the US, I thought maybe it would be a good day to remember the gift Labor Unions have been and still are to the people of this country.  I got an email this morning with a link to this collection of reminders of what unions do for us.  The following videos are long  (15 min. each), and a little hoaky/antique, but I thought they were well done. Too many of us forget  how far workers have come - and that puts us in danger of sliding back into the dark days of yore. The same people who are trying to break the unions are also trying to eliminate the minimum wage, to end things like OSHA and the EPA, to free business from any regulation and to defang the new Consumer Protection Agency. That is not a coincidence. And it is only aimed at helping the "economy" of those who don't need help at the expense of the increasing mass of the poor in this country.   Oh... and this is a GREAT (I liked it anyway) movie about the labor movement in Great Britain; it's called Made in Dagenham.

Daily Reminder # 453

I've got nothing today. The birds continue to boycott the back porch (at least while I'm there). Very discouraging.  Reduced to messing with pictures I don't like that much. Which is kind of fun, so I don't mind that much in some ways. Still, I miss the birds. I miss that the cooler air we had for a while. It's 84 and humid today. Sigh. Still, for a summer that had a horrible start, the past few weeks have been lovely. Got a good Neale Donald Walsh today. I think it's good, anyway. Listening to the Healing with the Masters videos I linked to on Friday, there is a consistent message about attitude and the energy we put into the world.  I know this is particularly true for me around politics. I get pissed off. Really pissed off. I get into muttering about evil and greed and bigotry.

On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
...that you cannot hope to solve any problem using the
same energy that created the problem.

Whether it's the endless wars in the world or the
unending quarrels and fighting in your own home, the
problem is the same: conflicting energy. If you want
to change the outcome, change the energy.

The extraordinary aspect of this solution is that you
do not have to wait for the other party in order
to do it.

Love, Your Friend....

Daily Reminder # 452

I almost forgot today's daily reminder. I haven't done poetry for a while. Thought maybe I'd go back in time - my own and earth's and share some of the poetry I loved in high school and college. Alas, there is a tendency to present these awesome poems in really hoaky ways. Very frustrating. Still, the words are wonderful.

Some things I'm grateful for today: (Items in red are pre-gratitude, an effort to create enthusiasm in the Creative Forces of the Universe for lavishing me with truckloads of money, clothes dryers, psychic readings and other good things. So far I don't seem to be inspiring them very much. But I am determined not to give up.)

Weekly Wordzzle Challenge # 168

Posting late. Sorry. Still going with the story of Fred Johnson,  Paragon of Virtue. I had a rough time tonight, though I am still enjoying a break from having to invent new characters and completed stories each week. Nice to leave things hanging. Wish I had a clue where they were going, though. Anyway, here are links to the previous episodes.  If you need/want to catch up, click here for the 1st installment, 2nd installment, 3rd installment, 4th installment, 5th installment, 6th installment, 7th installment.

Word for this week's 10-word challenge were:  fuzzy,  smoke signals, surgery, solitaire, sketch, chosen, pool, clause, salt, confetti   And for the mini: transformation, shadow boxing, coconuts, sparkle, chanting

My mega:

Mercifully, the magic of his Chef's coconut cookies, did seem to have an impact of sorts on Count Psycho. It wasn't quite the transformation that Paragon of Virtue Fred Johnson had hoped for, but it was something. He was also relieved to have discovered his magic earring tucked into a corner of the basket. The best side effect of Chef's cookies was that it seemed to have dimmed the Count's enthusiasm for musical chairs - at least temporarily he had chosen to have someone take the Paragon to a rather lovely bedroom which looked out over a sparkling pool and yet another rose garden. It was a great relief to be away from the constant prattle of the crazed Count and to have the fuzzy-headed feeling (rather like coming out of anesthesia after surgery) that the endless stream of words had induced in him begin to lift. He found himself wishing he had a computer and could clear his mind with a few games of solitaire, but this was the Kingdom of Sunday and computers were not part of their reality. He decided to get the magic earring out of its hiding place before he forgot and was surprised to find a note and a sketch of some kind tucked next to it in the basket. After inserting the earring so that it was as unobtrusive as possible, he sat on the bed and read the following:

Kindly Paragon Johnson. Rumors of your kindness have not been exaggerated and I can not begin to tell you what an extraordinary gift it was to once again taste one of my cousin Claude's Confetti's cookies again. It has restored a sense of hope in my heart which had been dimming, despite the new life I carry. Attached is a map of the Fortress which I have drawn in hopes that it will be of service to you. As you may have guessed, the Count's name suits his personality. Do not be fooled by his airy banter. It is a kind of spell. I was glad to see that you have a magic earring. Also. Whatever you do, do not play musical chairs. Two of the most effective charms against the Count's power are salt (keep some on your person always) and chanting.  I am sometimes able to communicate with Claude and Spark using smoke signals and will let them know of your kindness to me.  It would help me to do this unnoticed if you could persuade him to show you the Hall of Shadow Boxing.  I think there is some good in him deep inside and when the shadow boxing engages that goodness in a kind of battle with the darkness which presently rules. Thank you again for your kindness.  Sincerely, Bubbles Confetti Clause

Fred Johnson was awed by the courage of this young woman and once again by the continuing strangeness and wonders of the Kingdom of Sunday. He was relieved to have an ally inside the Fortress. Two, if he counted his trusty dog Cane, who as though reading his mind, came and put a wet  nose against his hand.

My 10-word:

Studying Bubble's Clause's sketched map of the Fortress, Fred was impressed by the detail Bubbles had managed to include. He was also feeling a bit ashamed of himself that he had not known until just a few minutes ago that his beloved Chef's name was Claude Confetti. Considering how much he worshiped the chef's magnificent food and how important this man's presence had been to him during his time in Sunday, he thought that it did not speak well of his character that he had not chosen to learn more about the man whose food - and whose cousin Bubbles Clause - might very well be all that stood between himself and an unpleasant form of surgery known as beheading. If he survived this adventure, he would ask Claude's forgiveness and try to find some way to atone for his thoughtlessness. He was grateful that the fuzzy feeling the Count's jabber had induced in his brain was almost completely lifted, and tucking the map into his pocket, walked over to the window to look out on the pool, the rose garden and to contemplate the idea of smoke signals rising over the mountains. He wondered if Sunday had some counterpart of American Indians. He rather hoped Bubbles could teach him some signals of his own. He had no idea how he was going to get Count Psycho to go to the Hall of Shadow Boxing. (He found the very idea of a hall of shadow boxing where one fought ones inner demons to be both a brilliant idea and completely bizarre.) He wondered if the denizens of Sunday played cards. Maybe he could distract the Count for a while by teaching him Solitaire or Go Fish or a weird game he had tried a few times called Salt and Pepper. Meanwhile, he realized that he was exhausted, and stretching out on the bed, fell immediately into a deep, though restless sleep.

And the mini:

In his dream, Flashlight - Spark the Wizard's daughter and the beloved woman of his dreams - was sitting cross-legged holding two large coconuts and chanting something about shadow boxing being the road to transformation. There was a sparkle in her eye that made his heart melt and that also told him (at least in his unconscious) that this was no ordinary dream but a message from the Wizard. An hour or two later, he woke feeling remarkably refreshed to a knock on the door and the unwelcome sound of Count Psycho's voice.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Words for next week's 10-word challenge: friends, unfathomable, sharks, kiss and tell, jelly beans, justice, terrible, health, sour grapes, stone
And for the mini: trembling, spacious, pendant, traffic, legal
Thanks you for playing.  Newcomers can check here for some guidelines to make the game more fun. There are no rules, just some general guidelines and tricks.
Daily Reminder # 451
No takers? Where have my feathered friends gone?
Well, I got distracted and almost forgot to post a reminder today. The back door has been very stingy. I see and hear the blue jays and sparrows, but they aren't coming to the porch - at least not while I'm there. The bird seed sat uneaten. It was mostly gone this morning, so somebody ate it. I put new out before I came out to the computer and sat in hopes of visitors but they remained aloof in the bushes, flying around to let me know they are there but... Sigh. If the falling leaves didn't betray the truth, the disappearance of the birds is a sign that the grey days of winter will soon be upon us. I don't think there's going to be much Fall foliage this year. Maybe I'm wrong. I guess time will tell.  For now there are lots of early leaves falling but not much color.
Meanwhile, I want to sing the praises of coconut oil.  One of the many physical issues I've been struggling with of late (well, actually for quite a while but especially of late) is pressure sores (I'm assuming that's what it is) on the back of my legs because I sit so much. Besides the fact that things that I can't get to heal quickly kind of scare me, they are just so bloody uncomfortable. Over the course of the past few years I've been able to reiki and lotion them into a kind of quasi submission, but of late either my tolerance has decreased or they have gotten worse. Anyway, I've waged a campaign to heal them and pulled something I remember reading about on my niece Diana's Food Scout website.... coconut oil.  Wow. It has been miraculous. Messy, worth the grease-a-thon. Not that there haven't been moments of itching and burning mixed that have made me just wish I could lose consciousness entirely.  Anyway, not quite home free yet, but SOOOO much better. When I went to the site this morning for the link, I noticed that she says it's good for gums too. Think I'll try that next.
I also wanted to share a link to this free video series I got through Neale Donald Walsh.  You can sign up for the current free series here (they will try to sell you stuff but no in the videos and not hard sell).  Meanwhile, there is a wonderful series of past (I think) videos, quite a few of which I listened to last night. The Lindsay Wagner one is quite wonderful, I think. They do get progressively more woo-woo, so you might want to prepare for that.
Guess that's enough for this morning (afternoon, actually).
Daily Reminder # 450
Well, the back yard was very quiet yesterday afternoon and then this morning, I read that today begins a 10-day celebration of the Hindu God Ganesh's birthday and I thought it seemed like as good a thing as anything to celebrate. According to the first article I read, Ganesh is "widely celebrated for auspicious beginnings." Well, it seems to me that if ever the world needed some auspicious beginnings, we are in need of some now. Ganesh is also the patron of the arts and sciences and the deity of intellect and wisdom. He's also know as a breaker of obstacles. Ironic, then, that an elephant is the symbol of the Republican Party, isn't it? I think maybe the Democrats should start chatting with Ganesh and see if he can dispense some wisdom and put and end to all the obstructing that has been going on for 3 years.  If you'd like to know more about Ganesh here are a couple of sources...  Sanatansociety and  Wikipedia.    And who would have expected that there's a Ganesh temple in Flushing, NY? Cool.  So anyway, Happy Birthday to Ganesh and joy to those who observe his celebration and those who don't.
Some things I'm grateful for today: (Items in red are pre-gratitude, an effort to encourage the Creative Forces of the Universe to Create on my behalf.... to think to themselves, "oh... she said thank you, were we supposed to have gotten her that clothes dryer and that big check from PCH? Better get right on it and make sure we deliver.)
