Ruby Tuesday

Maryt/The Teach over at Work of the Poet has something called Ruby Tuesday which featuring all things red.

I am slowly pulling out of a major funk, deeply obsessed with politics at the moment. I was thinking I didn't have anything exciting for Ruby Tuesday. The backyard has been slow. I have one red object that I'm looking forward to sharing but haven't figured out how to take a picture of it yet. But then I remembered a few things so I'm going to "do" Ruby Tuesday, even though I'm coming in a bit late and my offerings are kind of mundane.

I'm very excited because I finally splurged and got myself some decent pots and pans. Found a good deal. And they are RED. You might wonder why I'm posting them in/on the box. Well, I have to CLEAN the stove before I can take a picture of them there. They remain in the box at the moment because I don't want to defile them until the stove/kitchen becomes more worthy of their shiny new-ness. Housekeeping - even in my more agile days - has never been one of my strengths or virtues.

Ok... these may be more orange than red, but they have a reddish tinge, I think. Mother nature is as confused as I am, it seems, about the weather. We have had September in August and many trees are already well into fall foliage already. Hope this doesn't mean we are going to have the coldest winter in history. Yuck.

And of course, there's Netflix, savior of the home-bound.

Last, but not least. My little neighbor Shannon - following bad advice from me - made this wonderful collage for a contest on a really stupid website she likes. I misread the instructions so her efforts were not what the contest was looking for, but I think she did such a great job that I thought I'd share it here. There's a little bit of red in it. The request was to compile things they thought were "cool," - people, stores, tv shows... The website is "Go Supermodel." I thought Shannon's work deserved an audience so here it is.

I like the red pans! And I'm looking forward to autumn, though my kids are not. Daughter started first grade today; I'm wondering all day how it went.

I have some red pots too. Red looks good in a kitchen.

Boy don't we KNOW we've gotten OLD when we get excited over pots & pans! I am COVETING your pots & pans! IN RED! Wow! And I would be the same way - gotta clean the stove before I can dirty 'em! LOL! (and once upon a time... long long ago... in a land faaaaar away... I WAS a good housekeeper! But NOT no more!) hehehe...

WHAT is WRONG with Shannon's collage that it wasn't what they wanted? If those are the things she thinks is COOL - then it IS! I don't understand! GOOOO Shannon!

Thanks everyone.

Melli - the problem was that they wanted something they are calling a "collaque" and it had to be done using their program. It was pretty much impossible to do what they were asking in the format they were asking kids to do it in. As a result most of the kids (at least the submissions I have looked at) just entered something that had nothing to do with the request. Anyway, Shannon's lovely collage couldn't be imported in. I haven't seen her yet to tell her that I misled her. Hopefully she had enough fun making it that she won't be to disappointed. I have a feeling that I'm more upset than she will be.

Hi Raven,
Love your new red pots and pans. You are cracking me up about not wanting to defile them...
Enjoy and I'm glad you are coming out of your funk...

Dear Raven,
You say you've got nothing and then come up with a whole exhibition.
Nice one too.
I think you are being far to hard on yourself.
I'm looking forward to seeing your own pots and pans. Bet they are gorgeous too.

Those pots and pans fit the bill nicely for Ruby Tuesday Raven.
I was taking pics of changing leaves yesterday too and was thinking if winter were going to settle in too quickly.
I love Shannon's collage - she did an excellent job! You my friend are very special for letting it have the attention it deserves.

I love how you won't put the pots on the stove til it's clean!! I do the same thing.

when I got a new comforter set I wouldn't put it out until the entire bedroom was cleaned - then it felt right

I love the collage!!
she has some very cool cool things :)

I love those pots and pans....they are so red. And I don't get what isn't right with the collage. I think it is cool and the individual pics, too. Hmm..oh well...it is what she thinks is cool.

I'm running behind and all weird today because of the holiday. I got confused about Ruby Tuesday, but got something up.

Red pots and pans would look so cool in my kitchen - it has a farmhouse border under the cabinets with red barns and trim. My son bought me new ones right before I moved so I don't need new ones right now.
I took pictures of changing leaves yesterday and I was thinking like you that maybe winter is coming too soon.
Shannon is lucky to have you as a good friend to post her collage and give it the recognition it deserves - I think she did a fantastic job! Nice thing to do Raven! Very nice.

Pots and pans may not be that exciting, but you can't miss them. Yes, a housekeeping item (and red) I can appreciate it.

Red non-stick cookware. Perfect, we could use some new non-stick as many things are now sticking...

The leaves are turning in upstate NY? Kinda early, but orange is made up partly of red. Therefore, the leaves are perfect for a happy Ruby Tuesday!

how posh are those pans!! ^_~

So much red. I like your pots and pans. What a nice gift to yourself. Happy RT.

Our leaves are changing already. A few trees began showing yellow and red a couple of weeks ago, the earliest I can remember. I haven't looked at a Farmer's Almanac to see what has been said about this coming winter- I'm afraid to know. And I like the collage; thanks for sharing it here.

I have been in my own funk..but my daughter is coming to visit, so by next week at this time I will be in a coma trying to show her that MS hasn't slowed me down at all. Which of course it has...Sorry...I love the pots and pans and I hate to take things out of boxes when I first get them. I like to keep things new. There is probably some medication for that but it seems harmless...

The collage is really nice. She likes Obama and has good taste too..

Okay-first, I thought of another cool "C" word for your post below-CONNOR!

The pots and pans are very specky-I love them! I would probably want a super clean kitchen before breaking them out too. Enjoy them and cannot wait to hear what their first assignment will be!

I like the collage and it shows a lot about her interests and I know I would have LOVED doing a project like that! It's great.

You guys did good on the collage. Too bad it wasn't exactly like the instructions called for.
I like your red pots, I remember when we 'finally' got some good pots and pans. That was a big day. I don't think we cleaned the kitchen before using them either. :-)
Happy RRtU!

What a handsome set of pots and pans. And I agree -- your little neighbor did a great job with her collage.

Awesome pans!!! Wouldn't mind having some of those myself, as red is my favorite color!!!

A lot of red you've posted, very nice.
The poem (in Flanders Fields) of John McCrea is well known to me, it's hanging in my house on the wall! Of course these are called poppies (wrong translation, corrected in the mean while).

Great red pots! Stunning and bright!

And good for you posting Shannon's efforts! Pics are beautifully organised and they certainly reveal a very deep understanding of all that is "cool" to a young person! Please congratulate her!

Great selection you got here. I love the leaves. The photo makes me feel that maybe autumn is that bad after all. It's rainy and cold - but oh so beautiful! :)

Patti said...

that other Patti comment was actually Ralph on my profile ;-)

anyhoo, I love the red pots and pans- just perfect for a Ruby Tuesday post!

And the leaves are pretty - too bad they turned so early in the season.

Shannon is an artistic little girl!

Interesting collage of reds!

Kudos to Shannon and kudos to you for being the cool friend to help her- even if you goofed with the instructions. I hear you on 'really stupid' websites. My daughter likes them, too and I have to be careful not to be overly judgmental.

Side note, my daughter told me the other day her teacher was being sexist. Now I have to tell you I laughed because my daughter (taking after her mother) truly believes she is politically savvy and aware. I asked her why she thinks he was sexist. Her explanation wasn't a strong argument but I got a good chuckle thinking I'm nurturing one confident, opinionated, young feminist.
