One Single Impression: Resolve

This week's prompt for One Single Impression was "resolve." Squeezing even these three pathetic offerings out was not easy. Sigh.

Although I resolved
To participate today
No inspiration
Alas, ideas were too few
Inspiration came not

Where are our leaders?
Why won’t they do anything?
Eight years of unchecked
High crimes and misdemeanors
Where is Congress’s resolve?

~~~~~~~~~~~
Somehow firm resolve
Doesn’t always linger on
I start strong and fade
~~~~~~~~~~~

Resolve’s a good thing
A long as we remember
You can’t always win
Sometimes God has other plans
That are more long range than ours

Good point -- resolve isn't always sufficient, and sometimes is foolish in the face of reality (like GWB's "resolve" in Iraq).

I especially like the last one... Resolve is mostly worth nothing unless it IS God's resolve! Our resolve only works if He gives it to us! Otherwise our resolve is just messin' stuff up that He has to turn around and fix some other way!!! (I have a feeling our own strong will messes up His plans a lot!)

Now... I didn't get to read nearly enough Wordzzles yesterday - so I will be hanging out poppin' back and forth on your page for awhile today! :)

I liked all of these Raven.
I sense the first two reflect the mood you were in. :)

"Sometimes God has other plans" - is speaking to me these last few days.

These are all good, the different faces of resolve.

I start strong and fade. Sometimes it's just fate and what each day brings. The true test of resolve, is getting beyond and going forward no matter what. Blessings, Janice

"going forward no mmatter what" - mybellavia has that right!

I certainly can relate to the fading right now.

I'm just the opposite; I start out slow and build up steam!

The resolve to complete the task is its own form of success. Thanks for this sequence, Raven.

You always make me stop and think which I value. for myself, the results of resolve, or that kind of stick-to-it-ness, one sees over time. It's hard to measure it day to day. We are to much like leaves on a tree; blowing around whichever way the wind will blow. I like to look at the whole tree....

Nice job on OSI poetry, Raven. I read at Dianne's blog that you're not feeling well either. I'm sorry. Don't worry about it though, you'll be all right! Get well! :)

These are great - you are a master of saying it like you mean it! Really enjoyed these. Be well, please :)

These are excellent Raven; your passion comes through in your words. Hope the 'funk' has passed...been there, too many times.

_i don't know why i get the feeling raven that u r harsh to urself-in the sense that u refuse to take it easy or enjoy urself-just lying back,watching the cats,birds or trees-i think u owe it to urself
_pardon my intrusive uncalled for opinion but i feel a little holiday is no crime..best wishes..

I totally agree with the last comment! I too have trouble with just being! I feel guilty about what I think I should be doing!

I feel your struggle to be strong! That is always a wonderful resolve. But there is a point where being strong does not mean you can't relax a little!
