Skywatch Friday

This is my 8th time participating in Skywatch Friday. One thing about lots of dramatic weather (which we have had here) is that it offers lots of dramatic skies. I took a truckload of photos again this week. Initially, I had this idea about doing a week with nothing but clouds and sky, but that got kind of boring and I think the clouds sort of lose something without the contrast of trees and land. As usual, I took a gazillion pictures and am posting too many. Die hard cloud lovers can see all the ones I didn't post here.

Sky Watch Friday is hosted by Tom at Welcome to Wigger's World and I hope you'll make it a point to visit his wonderful site as well. He takes awesome photos.

This one was out my front window. Something about the double paned glass distorts the color, but I thought the clouds were interesting anyway.

Believe it or not there was another rainbow in the same spot... the third I've seen since I started taking pictures out the back door. There was so much excitement about last week's rainbow that I thought I'd post another this week.

I thought this was a really unusual sky.

It looks like a lot of the photos were taken of the same clouds. Like there are two sets of different clouds. I run into that all the time. I take a picture here and then look over there and take another and before long I have a lot of photos. None are as nice as yours though.

As Babooshka said, some great variations in the cloud.

It's amazing how quickly the formations change.

Great SWF photos. I love rainbows and those big puffy clouds. The last shot is really impressive. Almost looks as if it were two photos merged together. Great job. Cheers!

Wow Raven - I would have a hard time too.
I could talk about all of them :) but I'll highlight that the second one makes me want to put a musical note on the wire, the ones with the dark clouds and green trees I love as well as the ones near the bottom with bright clouds and green.
Another rainbow - wow - remember I told you that you were supposed to see it.

Clouds are addictive, once you get hooked on them you never get eneough, eyes glued to the sky for opportunities. I like yours, especially the grey mushroom one contrasting with the brightly lit, crisp cumulus.

You got some angry looking skies there Raven! There's one about midway down that looks like a sky-sized mushroom that caught my eye. I might have to consider this meme myself, Carmi at Written, Inc. used "Sky" as the Thematic Photographic prompt a few weeks ago (around the 4th of July I believe) and there were some incredible skyscapes that surfaced for that (including a few of mine I was quite proud of).
Nice series!

Nice collection, Raven. And wow! You've seen three rainbows from the same spot? I haven't seen a rainbow from my yard for months so I'm a teensy bit jealous...OK. a LOT jealous. ;-)

At time I don't know which cloud picture I want to post.
To me they have there own unique story behind them.

Mine is up when you have some free time stop on by.
The coffee is always on.

Great shots, Raven! I especially like the last couple. Lots of dimension in your shots... so much texture.

The rainbow rocks too... of course, being that I am so passionate about the weather and the sky... I followed the link. :O)

Choosing is always a challenge for me too because I love them all for different reasons. If you numbered them I could tell you the 3 I like best, but I keep losing count for some reason today. Isn’t it fun to watch the sky change throughout the day? I shared at Sacred Ruminations today … with cloud collages.
Hugs and blessings,
