Saturday Wordzzle Challenge: Week 83

This is week 83 of the Saturday Wordzzle challenge. Anyone new to the process can refer back here to find out how it works. I had a really rough time this week. I'm going to use construction in both the bathroom and the kitchen all day as my excuse if these make no sense. I'm too tired to try and improve them. Looking forward to reading what the rest of you have created from this particularly irritating set of words.

The words for this week's ten word challenge were: family, cheese cake, 20 years ago, refrigerator, laugh and the world laughs with you, bath brush, zombies, African violets, butterflies, holding hands And for the mini: monsters in the closet, roughly, bowling, menu, Pennsylvania

My 10 word:

Looking at the Zombies bath brush his wife had just gotten for the 10 year old son, Fred had to laugh. Twenty years ago when his father had started the family cheese cake business, Fred had thought it was the worst idea in the world. Teased by many of his friends, his teen-aged humiliation and angst had known no bounds... until, that is, he met Luscious Lola who loved butterflies, African violets, the Beatles, holding hands, cheese cake and him! Lola was everything a man could want. She was a laugh and the world laughs with you girl and she loved to laugh just as much as she loved to bake and eat cheese cake (there was always at least one in the refrigerator). His parents loved her as much as he did (a lot). She helped them run the business while he was free to pursue his writing, help raise their son and be the happiest man on earth. Life was good.

The mini:

Molly Masterson was very happy. Her husband's idea to spend Halloween in Hersey, Pennsylvania with the kids had been pure genius. Every menu in town had wonderful chocolate delights. Even the local bowling alley served chocolate. There were scenic gardens, an amusement park and even hockey games for Bill and the boys. Presumably the home of chocolate candy would offer some of the best trick or treating in the nation.. She had been disappointed that the kids hadn't liked her costume idea for them to go as monsters in the closet. (She thought it was pure genius and had it all roughly designed out in her head.) Darth Vader and Legos Man had won, however. She hoped it was a trip the boys would remember always. She knew she would.

And the mega:

Gloria Gorgonetti sat holding the menu, scanning it in hopes that they had the strawberry cheese cake she loved so much. She was rewarding herself today. There was a long way to go, but as of today her children's book, Monsters in the Closet, was roughly half finished and so far she - amd better still her publisher - was very happy with it. The monsters in this book's closet (a closet very much like her young son Peter's right here in Pennsylvania) were not Zombies, not mean nasty monsters, just rather naughty creatures who got into mischief while children slept at night. They particularly liked bowling with apples and oranges and raiding the refrigerator (especially for chocolate cake and ice cream). Each "monster" looked surprisingly like some member of her family. Vivi, the one with the pot of African Violets on her head was the image of her sister Daisy. Then there was Smuch, who for some reason carried a bath brush around sort of like a scepter and wore a blanket on his shoulders like a cloak. He looked just like her baby brother David had 20 years ago. Butterfly was a perfect replica of her daughter Emma, who loved both ice cream and laughter. Laugh and the world laughs with you Gloria's mother had always said. She had thought it was nonsense until she had Emma who had proven that saying to be true. Emma made laughter a way of life for all of them in the house. She was pure joy. As was Peter to whom this book was dedicated in hopes that the shadows he feared in his own closet would seem more benign when she was done. She was stuck at the moment for what to do with her little monsters next, though. She knew the book would end with them holding hands and walking into a closet sunset, but how she was going to get them there remained a mystery, so at the rate she was going, by the time she finished writing and illustrating her little master piece Peter would have graduated from college and have children of his own. For now, though, she had made progress and there was, she hoped, a slice of cheese cake waiting with her name on it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next Week's Ten Word Challenge will be: plaster, cottage cheese, hallowed, hard working, food for thought, blood drive, broken finger, ceiling fan, pastry chef, production
And for the mini: the sky is falling, variations on a theme, bravery, powder puff, empty soda bottles
Thanks for playing. For those who are new, here are some guidelines to make the process more fun.
Enjoy! See you next week.
Your 10-worder painted such a lovely picture in my mind! Fred's joy at being loved really shines though. Considering these words were tough, I don't think you need worry about not making sense, you made plenty sense to me!
Does the chocolate heaven of Hersey (Hershey?) actually exist? I'm sooo there!
And your mega? Lovely, how you gave us such a convincing peep into Gloria's life. I think I like the 10-word best, just because of the joy bubbling through it.
I like your 10 word a lot but I love your mega! I like the picture you paint of the little monsters that Gloria knew so well.
What wonderful stories from perfectly hitonious words.
Your creativity shows everywhere. The second one is pure genius and not just because I love chocolate.
And the last one is perfect.
Really well done.
Your mini make me want chocolate NOW... lots of it... :)
Sorry I managed to put two links in this week, it's the second one that is the right one (don't know what I did to the first one but it's not working).
I emailed you some words... Hope the email address I had saved is still working.
Nicely done Raven. Considering all the distractions at your home, I'm impressed you can put one word in front of another, much less in such an enjoyable fashion!
Reading these I can't help but be touched by your previous post about your sister. Your ability to write such beautiful pieces of lovliness and qentle humour is a credit to your obviously strong and enlightened spirit. Thank you for sharing such things :-) peace.
Lots of good things to eat in those stories. We dragons love good things to eat. In fact we have a slice of grashopper cheese cake waiting with our name on it.
We enjoyed.
Raven, this was my favorite line:
"She knew the book would end with them holding hands and walking into a closet sunset..."
I enjoyed your stories; all of them! :-) They were all so happy!
In the first story, I thought the "Zombies bath brush" was a nice use of the words. I liked the idea of a family business and everything working out so well, too. The second story, about the visit to Hersey, Pennsylvania, was very nice. My mother really likes Hersey's candy, and has some books that show pictures of Hersey, Pa., and describe the town. There's supposed to be a chocolate aroma in the air there, too. It sounds like a nice place to be. The third story, about the woman writing a book about the monsters in the closet, was also very nice, and I enjoyed the descriptions of the monsters and what they did. They were all good stories, but I think I like the first and last ones best.
I have my own stories up now.
