Wordless Wednesday: For the Birds and One Bee

Ok.... hardly any words.... I'm posting the bird flying out of the picture because I think the wing looks interesting even though only part of the bird is left in the picture. And the bumble bee isn't very clear, but it took me almost two months to get it and I think it's kind of cool even if it is sort of blurry. I'm still hoping to get a better one. I swear that bee is toying with me. It hangs in one spot until I finally find it and start to focus and then off it goes....

Okay, what kind of camera do you have again? You managed to capture a bee-which is just cool! I love the one with the wingspan of the bird moving about. Birds are challenging subjects!

snoopmurph - I've got a Canon Powershot SX100. 8.5 megapixels and 10x zoom. Got it for a really good price at Amazon.com. It was one of the last two in stock, I think. I love it. Batteries are rechargeable which is cool too.

Hi Raven,
These images are wonderful - including the bird's wing and that bee - OMG!

I know I'm weird, but I like the one with just the wings and the body the best. I love angles that normally wouldn't be considered good, centered shots!!

Great photography! I know these bees, they tease you. I too struggle to get them in my lens.

I love your birds--especially the one studying the belly button he doesn't have!

You got some great shots there but the one of the bee is fantastic!

My Sony cyber shot just died, and Ive been playing with returning to the Canon power shot. This is helping convince me!

Happy WW!

Wow, great shot of the bee!! I have a Canon S2 IS. Love it!

I love your photos!... and considering how 'flighty' bees are, I think you did great!

I agree w/ Sandy...ha!

Those photos are great.
Practice makes perfect.

My favorite is the posing Mr. Robin.

Thanks for stopping by Penny Lane. I am glad you enjoyed the rose.

Try bumblebees. They fly slower. ;-)

If you want a real challenge, try getting a photo of a hummingbird!

Your bird photos are a delight! So well done. Do you have a stabilizer? I don't; wish I did.

Carletta - thanks!

Cecily R - that's kind of what I like about it too.

Indrani - It really does feel like they're teasing, doesn't it? "Let's go mess with the humans..."

Hagar's Daughter - thank you.

SandyCarlson - He does look cute doing that, doesn't he? For some reason, those little guys defy sharp focus. Tiny and very well camoflaged, I guess.

Akelamalu - thanks.... I'm hoping I can still get a sharper image of the bee, but I was so grateful to get that one.

mharia - thank you

maiylah - We're pretty lucky here - though of course I wish there were even more... and I keep wishing one of the big raptors would land in my yard, probably not the smartest wish... but...

Gypsy Princess - I really love the Canon. Of course I'm up from a very old 1.5 pixel HP with no zoom. One of my cats graciously pushed it off the desk for me and smashed it to pieces. Gave me an excuse to get this one. Of course I wish I had 15X zoom, but this is pretty thrilling. Has opened worlds to me.

Saph - This camera is really well designed and easy to use. And when you use the Canon rechargeable batteries, they last a long time. It was money I didn't have, but I consider it well spent.

tt - thanks... helps to have time on your hands...

Jean - Practice doesn't hurt, but luck is pretty big factor too. Something about that stump - it's kind of like a critter stage. They pose so nicely there.

carrie - I do love watching them. I've named the grackle (the little guy on the pole above the wing picture) Willie after the bird in the Norman Rockwell children's book, WILLIE WAS DIFFERENT. I swear that Willie doesn't know he's a grackle. It sits up there and talks to nobody in particular in a very ungrackle-like way.

dcr - that IS a bumblebee. We seem to have a crop of giant ones this year. I have a lot of pictures of them climbing the dandelions, but am determined to get one in flight like this. I got a hummingbird - sort of - but it was too far away and sort of hidden by the flowers around it. One afternoon while I was sitting at the back door, a little hummingbird came and hovered right in front of me - but I wasn't ready with the camera. Was still a wonderful experience.

quiet paths - I think the camera does have a stabilizer. If it didn't, I think picture I take would be a big blur. I just love this little camera. I paid $232 at Amazon.com, which I think was a pretty good price. It was the lowest price I found anywhere online.

Those are great shots! The shot of the wings is so cool. And the fact that you got a bee like that is great. I'm impressed it turned out that well - bees are difficult to get it seems. Nice job. :D

Happy WW!

I’m amazed at the wonderful bird photos you’re able to capture from inside your house. My camera isn’t good enough for that kind of clarity. They’re all wonderful but the two ‘in flight’ are excellent! Is that a bee 3rd from the end???

I’ve shared more of what I’ve learned in my Photoshop Elements class at Small Reflections today.
Hugs and blessings,

Raven, these are all just wonderful, but I just adore that Robin! I haven't been very lucky at all with capturing my feathered friends yet, but I'm working on it!

Darn that bee! He needs to stand still and pose!

These are wonderful images. And I love the words that go with them. I can never keep silent on Wordless Wednesday or any other day for that matter! My favorites are the ones you seem apologetic for. I love the bee with his blurred wings and I LOVE the bird flying out of the picture.
