It's day eight of Anna Carson's Project Black. Everything seemed to come out dark today unless I took it with a flash and I don't like the way my flash pictures come out. I kind of like the darkness in these. Not sure why I'm including the second one which is a blurry mess. Sigh. I tried to make these boots interesting but didn't succeed very well, I'm afraid. Same with the bears. I actually messed with the first two bears a little bit which I almost never do. But nothing would come out right today. Such is life, I guess. Guess I'll also stop apologizing and just post this. Life will go on. Oh, one last thing: If you'll notice, the logo for the boots is a bear which is why I decided to add the bears today too. Way my mind works.
My other Project Black posts include:
Cane Corso Mastiff
Crow on the Wire
My Black Cane

I love how you keep trying different things. My favorite tonight is the first of the bears. I like the lighting on his back and how he's looking back like that. You captured it well. :)
I like the red sock stuck in the boat - it made for great contrast with the black.
I like the same bear Robert did. Is that an ornament?
I see you have a big bear standing guard too!
Robert - I appreciate your encouragement. Your photography is so amazing that I consider a compliment from you extra special.
Carletta - same goes for you. I so appreciate your support and your encouragement. The big bear belongs to my new neighbors. They have a friend who apparently carves them. Their back shed has about 4 of them standing guard, then there's an eagle in the middle of the yard and a baying wolf in the far corner that I can barely see.
I have found great subjects for PB. Only it was too dark and the flash made them look brownish/grey and not black...
I love your shots, well done!!
Sorel are good boots. We get so little snow in New Jersey! (I grew up in New England).
The second one, the one you call a blurry mess, is my favorite. I like when the camera blurs the subject a bit. Adds interest.
Very creative with the boots... the bears are beautiful! Your carver does an excellent job!
Such creative shots! I actually love the blurry one (the 2nd posted pic)!
Sorry my comments on your blog have been so sporadic, but i really do enjoy looking through your posts!
Excellent poem, Katherine! Very effective! The boots and the bears are wonderful photos! So well positioned! :)
Oh, I love those boots, and that poem is beautiful! Here's a hint for when you use your flash...hold a piece of white paper over it. It will diffuse the flash a bit. To diffuse it more, use more than one piece of paper. Cheap and easy trick that works well :-)
I love blurry messes! ;)
and I love the red against the boots, beautiful
I know what you mean about the flash making the picture look all werid sometimes and not what you want at all...try it with a Christmas tree sometime and you will totally understand why the pictures when you were a kid didn't really look like the tree...even after everyone had color film.
The boots look warm and snuggly and wonderful for rainy cold weather, which I would LOVE to see a little bit of. Dangling participle...sue me :)
I love the bears. For many reasons.
love the bear, he's cute
I like the boots and bears! I especially like that first bear because you can see his shadow. I also like the one of the sole of the boot. It is so textural.
I love the little bears - very cute! But who'da thought boots could make such an interesting series??? Nicely done!!!
I really like the many textures of the boots and the red sock, I had first read as sock as 'shock', for that is how the red appears at first glance. I think the boot photos are really great. And the standing bear as the last photo is pretty neat bearing its stance with dignity.
ann
