Daily Reminder # 163

This is from a couple of summers ago, I think. Gray and chill as it is
now, Spring and Summer and Fall will come again.  Politicians just
elected will be replaced. Life will circle on and have it's ups and downs
and so will I - hopefully for at least a few more seasons of seasons

It has been gray and damp and chilly here and I don't have any new photos so I will have to dig up some old stuff. Maybe I'll pick some reminders that summer will come again. Anyway, feeling a BIT down about the recent elections and the weather and Gabrielle (who is an awesome writer and poet) sent me a couple of lovely emails to check on me and cheer me up.  In her last one, she sent me this wonderful quote, which I thought was a good a reminder as a day could offer and also has the virtue of saving me the effort of writing something myself.

"To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic.  It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness.
What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives.  If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something.  If we remember those times and places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction.
And if we do act, in however small a way, we don't have to wait for some grand utopian future.  The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory."
Howard Zinn,   “You Can’t be Neutral on a Moving Train”

Hopefully next Spring the bees will return. There were a few at
the end of the summer, which gave me hope and I think there has
been some discoveries about what was causing the problem.
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!
STAY HOPEFUL

Hard to keep positive when it's dark and dreary. We've had a few dark days here but today the sun it out, although the air is still cold.
