One Single Impression: Melody

This week's prompt for One Single Impression was "melody." Only managed to do 5-7-5 once. Just couldn't get away from six syllables for the last line for some reason... not that it matters that much in the end, but I do love the game of trying to keep to the count and still have some music/meaning to the words.

When I used to sing
Voice lifted by melody
That was joy indeed

The comfort of song
Wrapped in arms of melody
My heart takes solace

Melody is mine
I love to let my voice rise
Invoking harmony

It’s like touching God
To sing full voice – melody
But harmony is love

Much as I love the melody of song
I love too the music of words
Rhythm and cadence
Flowing sound
Telling as much as
The words themselves
Words have energy,
The same sentence
Spoken with a different heart
Vibrates with a different feel
Written or spoken
Words carry the spirit of the speaker
Truth has its own music
Resonant and clear
Melodic to the soul

I enjoyed this very much. The idea that truth has its own music is wonderful. God bless.

Something intriguing to mull over.

I love the haiku that relates singing melody to touching God. I have had that experience sometimes when singing in a choir but haven't been able to express the experience with words. Nice!!

"Truth has its own music"...I love that line. The entire poem is very well written and expressive. Love it! =)

These are all beautiful. I love to sing too, and you've captured that joy in your words wonderfully. I love the line, "It's like touching God". So true, so very true.

You have addressed the power that music has over us, I love your words, "The comfort of song wrapped in arms of melody". This brings to mind the image of friends swaying together in song, or of a mother singing to her child in her arms. Lovely!

The idea of touching God through our singing is great.
Thank You for all your poems this week.

I love the lyrical rhythm and cadence of words … perhaps as much as melody, but I love to sing and often find myself humming, and when I stop and remember the words … it sometimes feels as if God is communicating through the music. I enjoyed your offerings today. Thank you.
Hugs and blessings,

That was lovely, Raven.

We love singing over here, too, both melody and harmony. :)
