Just gratitude tonight.... and a request that you pray for my friend Sara in Ohio who has stage 4 cancer and is not doing so well at the moment.
Post midnight addition. I am watching the news that Osama Bin Laden is dead in what was apparently a brilliant military operation. Although I am glad that this man who has created so much hate in the world can no longer do so - at least actively - it is odd to me to watch people joyfully dancing and celebrating the death of another human being, even an evil one. I truly hope that this man's death is also the death knell for his organization. In combination with all the revolutions across the Arab world, perhaps it will be. Can't help musing that it must make some Regressive bigots really miserable that the Secret Kenyan Muslim socialist who stole the White House helped master mind this victory. They've had a tough week. First the long-form birth certificate and now the death of Bin Laden. It is good that this man is dead, I think. I just have a hard time rejoicing in the death of even evil men. Hopefully he has taken his hate with him to another plane of existence where it will be absorbed and purged by the Divinity.

I am glad bin Laden can no longer wreak his own special kind of hatred on the world, but like you I am not willing to rejoice in his death. To do so, I fear, would bring me down to his level. Murder, revenge and retribution will never make the world a better place.
I've had those same feelings. I'm so glad that he will no longer hurt anyone, but I'm sorry he has no chance for redemption.
