One Single Impression: Distractions

This week's prompt for One Single Impression was "distractions."

I meant to write more
But so many distractions
This is all I have

Although some say no

I think distractions are good
Not always maybe
But sometimes the unplanned road
Leads to amazing wonders

~~~~~~~~~~~
I procrastinate
And few things delight me more
Than good distractions
~~~~~~~~~~~

Distraction's two-faced
It can steal needed focus
But sometimes it helps
To numb the edges of pain
So we can bear to go on

Despite the distractions, such excellent poems.

Most excellent. Much of my poetry is free verse, which by definition allows my thoughts to flow and my word selection to be eclectic and descriptive, sometimes in ways that are delightfully unexpected.

But the "rules" poems as I call them, like haiku, are equally as satisfying.

Great idea - distraction as the flip-side (and benefit) of procrastination!

Nice job on these Raven. Thanks for the insight that distractions can be creative food but it's our own delay which might cause trouble. I think it was John Lennon who said you are not wasting time if you enjoy doing it. (Paraphrased)

Dear Raven--
I love you loving your naughty naughty cat...a little projection there, I hope!

Thank you for these lovely tidbits and for stopping by the Virtual Tea House--

Hi Raven - thanks for visiting my blog. I too am a cat lover and have two once-abandoned cats running my house. One insists on sleeping on the Christmas presents under the tree!!!! They are wonderful company though aren't they??

Thank you for showing us the bright side of distractions.
Blogging eases my pain. It may be an addiction rather than distraction.
