Daily Reminder # 218

I was looking for something to share tonight, going through old, saved emails and I found this quote that I think I saved back during November's Blog Blast for Peace. Or maybe I found it some other time. In any case, I think it's a wonderful quote and thought. It make me smile. It is itself in some ways what it proposes - a tiny peace bomb. I think I'm going to make an effort in this year to find or make or look for little "peace bombs" every time the GOP does something that makes my hair stand on end or I read of some gloomy forecast or another.  If I feel myself getting cranky or depressed or angry, I will look for something that makes me smile. This isn't a New Year's resolution. I don't do New Year's resolutions. They are just another excuse to beat myself up when I forget or fail. It's just a happiness resolution. I'm going to try and choose happiness and peace over anger and sorrow. Whether I'll succeed or not only time will tell. But I think I will buy myself a box of crayons and give joy a try.

Maybe we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon.  A happiness weapon.  A beauty bomb.  And every time a crisis developed, we would launch one.  It would explode high in the air - explode softly - and send thousands, millions, of little parachutes into the air.  Floating down to earth - boxes of Crayolas.  And we wouldn't go cheap, either - not little boxes of eight.  Boxes of sixty-four, with the sharpener built right in.  With silver and gold and copper, magenta and peach and lime, amber and umber and all the rest.  And people would smile and get a little funny look on their faces and cover the world with imagination.   ~ Robert Fulghum

Fulgrum has several good quotes and that crayon on is among my favorites.

Congrats again on winning Punny Monday! Thanks for the shout out.

There's a story behind your Christmas Card -- just like there is a town behind that fog bank. We were staying in staff housing on campus waiting for our furniture so we could move in here. I was walking down the hall in the apartment and glanced out the bedroom window. I stopped and yelled, "Honey, come quick and bring the camera!"

Amoeba hotfooted it into the bedroom as I was cranking the window wide open. He didn't even complain about the cold because he thought I'd spotted an eagle some other wild creature. He looked and looked and then asked, "What are you taking photos of?!" I said, "The crime scene." He said, "What crime?!" and I said, "Obviously somebody stole town!"

Counter-bombs to make room among all the negative! I like it. I try to do this with my thoughts. Take judgments out
and stop remarking on other peoples affairs.Your idea goes a step further
if I work it right. It doesn't deny
anything, but creates something new!
It can also bring us back to accentuate the positive. Thanks.
