Ha! I was just getting ready to go to bed because Blogger wasn't working and I decided to give it one last check and it's back! I had a pretty good day today. My coffee maker made another miraculous recovery. Made some of the worst coffee I've ever tasted, but it made coffee. Then I heard from my niece that the box of rocks I sent for my great niece and great nephew arrived and was well received. My great nephew has decided to be a geologist. He's 6, so that will probably change, but it was nice to hear. I didn't really have money to buy anything good this year, so I went through my rock collection and picked out what the post office determined to be about 4 pounds of rocks and shipped them off (with help from my kind next door neighbor). So that was a very nice start to my day. I also had a lovely toasty day because I took a shower and so I cranked the heat up for a while. Very nice shower discovery too. The same kind neighbor who mailed my package is the one who cleaned my bathroom. When she did so, she reset the water flow from the shower head to the hose thingy. It actually works much better that way, so I'm not only clean, but the bathroom didn't get flooded as it usually does. Cool.
Then, as if that wasn't all good enough, here comes a little something my inner demons view as hypocrisy, but I did something wickedly, joyfully foolish late this afternoon. Remember a sentence or two ago I said that I didn't have money to buy gifts for the kids? Well, I bought myself a present today. A really cool present. I was browsing at Amazon.com as I sometimes do, gazing longingly at pictures of cameras... and one of the ones on my wish list - not THE one - a slightly lesser one was reduced in price by $70. And I had my gift certificate that my niece gave me for Christmas that I had feared only yesterday I'd have to spend on a coffee maker of all things. So that took the price down to HALF the original or about $130. SO.... I brooded, I gazed, I looked at other places, I left, I brooded, I pondered, I gazed some more. I put it into my shopping cart. I took it out of my shopping cart. I put it back in. And then.... I bought it. Free shipping, so I won't see it for a week or so, but... when it comes it will have 12 megapixels (up from 8) and 12x zoom (up from 10). Presumably its light filter will not be broken because some idiot (me) tried to take pictures of the sun with it. No 12 year old will have dropped it and frozen the lens which was then mercifully unfrozen by friends and works again but makes funny noises. And it will have all those lovely megapixels and my horizons will expand a little more with the extra zoom. So (pardon my language, but), SCREW GUILT! I'm happy.
The other nice thing that happened today is that the sun - which hid mostly - popped out long enough for a few photos of the same stupid tree I take pictures of all the time. Still... the clouds are always different.
So that's my story. I thought I'd share a Neale Donald Walsh message. I've rambled on so much that I should probably save it until tomorrow. But I feel very loved by the Universe today and that's what this God wants you to know message is about - so I thought it only right to pass that feeling along to those kind enough to visit.

Good for you! A new camera will definitely give you a different perspective on life - AND you might get good pictures of your camera shy cats. Heh.
I did the same thing with a kindle. I had some Christmas money & I ordered it, then I canceled it, then I hemmed & hawed & ordered it again. It's supposed to come today (free shipping to).
Don't feel guilty about your new camera, it sounds great and your other one has probably seen better days by the sounds of it. Those pesky killjoy inner Puritans get everywhere don't they? Got myself a whole gaggle of them and listening to their malicious mutterings is a tough habit to break.
