We are up to installment 40!!! of Paragon of Virtue, Fred Johnson's adventure in the Kingdom of Sunday, the story that keeps on going and going despite my efforts to end it.  And it's the 200th week of Wordzzles. Wow.

As has become my habit, I'm going to post the words and Mr. Linky and will probably not do my exercises until tomorrow. I am a bad, bad blogger.

Words for this week's 10 word challenge were:   popular, eventually, fire, race, member, package, corpulent, flamboyant, vessels, desperate   And for the mini: fifteen, guess, rearranged, quill, profound

My mega:

"Do you think eventually we will run out of road blocks?,"  Purpose Pefidy asked with an edge of desperate, profound despair in his voice. Every member of the group could relate to that emotion. It seemed at times like they were racing to a fire in slow motion. "One careful step at a time, my friends, and we will get there," the usually flamboyant wizard replied with a touch of weariness. Let us deal with our corpulent friend Mr. Troll and make sure that he has no companions. Look carefully, Mr. Perfidy - and everyone else - to be sure nothing else has been rearranged, no hidden packages or undesirable vessels nesting in the shadows. Like an demented porcupine Quillard Quake had many quills in his arsenal, each one more deadly and poisonous than the last. I can only guess whether we have unearthed them all or whether there are two, five, ten or even fifteen more waiting to stop us. One thing gives me hope, though, that we are close to the end.... we have unearth those that were most popular with him already. Our job, though, is to be patient, careful and determined. And to know that good is ultimately stronger than evil.... Paraphrase, do you remember how to do Bob's Bully Blaster? Let us make sure we have found them all and dispatch some trolls."  "Ready when you are," the dragon responded.

The mini:

Fifteen minutes later, after scouring the cave for all signs of shadow trolls or evidence that something had been rearranged or altered, they felt a profound sense of relief and hope that perhaps they were close to the end of their quest. They had discovered four more shadow trolls and now had to come up with a plan to get rid of them. "Who would have guessed that even someone as soul-less as Quilly Quake would have risked unleashing trolls, on us," the wizard muttered, "though I suppose he assumed they would not be able to escape the painting. I'm not sure he was right about that and hopefully, we will never know..

And my 10-word:

"Since the Bully Blaster spell is unknown to you, Paragon, and best performed by Dragons in any case, I'm going to suggest that you and Mr. Perfidy leave the cave for the time being. I think it is best that not all members of our group be in here at once. Should anything go wrong, the situation will be desperate. Trolls are a race of beings as dumb and murderous as they are corpulent. If we fail, the painter must paint us and the cave out of existence and you must then exit and destroy the mural as well." A chill of fear ran through the Paragon to hear the usually flamboyant and cheerful wizard sounding so grim and he nodded in with a lump in his throat and a tear in his eye. "Should it come to that -which hopefully it won't," the wizard continued, "please give this package and letter to my daughter. She will know what to do with it." Seeing the horror on the Paragon's face, he smiled and said, "Preparing for the worst is not popular, my friend, but it is wise. Eventually, we all must die, young Paragon. I do not believe that this is my time or that of Paraphrase and the dragons, but we must prepare for the worst and then when we celebrate our success, it will be all the sweeter. Now - send the dragons in, so that we can dispense with the Trolls simultaneously as a group. Please remind them to eat plenty of fire weed (and bring some for Paraphrase)  and then ask them to bring six vessels of dazzle water. And have faith my friend. I believe we will be will conquer these trolls and that they are the last obstacle to freeing Lady Purist. Should it not go as I foresee it, though. Know that my life has been long and happy and that this journey with you has been an honor and a delight. Now, get going. The sooner we start, the sooner we will succeed."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Words for next week's 10-word challenge:  closet, time, function, provide, prophets, reporting,  necessary, changes, self-sacrificing, stimulate
And for the mini: awesome, home made, imitating the walk, armadillo, startling
Thanks you for playing.  Newcomers can check here for some guidelines to make the game more fun. There are no rules, just some general guidelines and tricks.
It's another lovely Spring day in Hancock and I'm still wrapped in the blahs, so I'm just going to do gratitude and a few pictures of Angel having the blahs sitting at the back door wishing I would think of something more interesting to do and alternately climbing on my lap and sticking her butt in my face. No pictures of the latter, only the Angel blahs. Oh and one of Tara Grace sleeping.
Daily Reminder # 642
Just gratitude today, I think.  It's a beautiful day here and I hope it is the same where you are as well.  Took these pictures yesterday. My back yard has been very quiet except that there are still lots and lots of bees on the flowering quince and they look robust and healthy like they did when I first moved here. Makes me so happy.  I just Googled bumble bee recovery and it looks like they are recovering in California, New Jersey, PA also. That was just from a quick glance the links that showed up. The only cloud on today's horizon is that my new toothbrush has not shipped from Amazon.com yet and my dying antique may be totally dead. I doesn't really work that well as a manual brush. But I guess it will have to do.
If you look right in the center you can see a bee.
Daily Reminder # 641
Was just going to do gratitude today, but then I thought this Neale Donald Walsh message was a really good one.
On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
..that life is meant to happy.
I know this is sometimes hard to believe, and I
know that on many days it simply is not your
experience, but it is true. You have all the tools
right now to make this day, this moment, happy.
The best of these tools is love. Just love everything
that Life has to offer today. And of course, love
every person. Then watch the whole
experience change.
Love, Your Friend....
 WISHING YOU HAPPINESS
Daily Reminder # 640
It was 80 degrees yesterday, so I spent a little time at the back door. The yard has been very quiet. No birds to speak of hanging out.  One thing did make me really, really happy, though. The flowering quince -  I love that bush so much - was full of bumble bees. I mean there were dozens and dozens of them. It make me so happy. I hope they have found immunity to whatever has been making them sick and are recovering around the world.  When the archangels visited a few weeks back and turned Tara into a play-a-thon, I asked them to help the bees. Maybe they listened. In any case, I was glad to see them buzzing in such numbers.  Mr. Woodchuck made a brief appearance too.
I wanted to share something else. Last night I watched this video for the World Tapping Conference 2012.  I had read about and been intrigued by EFT (tapping) years back, but never got into it. I like this video because it's a nice demonstration of how it works.  I think I may try to use this every day for a week or so and see if it works for me. I'll let you know.
Daily Reminder # 639
My older sister, Carole, would have been 75 years old today. It seems impossible that she has been gone for 23 years now. Next year the boy who stabbed her to death comes up for parole. I wish I thought prison has somehow healed his heart, but I kind of doubt it. I'm not sure if there's a way to find out. I used to have his prisoner number and would keep tabs on him, but as my own life got chaotic, I lost track of those things. I feel kind of guilty. What kind of younger sister am I to not keep tabs on such a thing?  Silly question, I know.
Carole was such a wonderful person, such a dream of a big sister. She was, in many ways, the mother my Mom was not capable of being. She encouraged me. She praised me. She loved me without qualifications or judgments. He children are living, breathing testimonials to her gift for love and for parenting. They are awesome. Kind, intelligent, creative. Funny. She loved coffee. Was addicted to it, in fact. She loved ideas. She loved politics. She loved to travel.  She loved high heels and slinky dresses that my mother didn't approve of.  She loved skiing and dancing.  She met her husband at a singles group on a ski trip or a dance. I forget which, really. She loved music: Introduced me to the music of Harry Belafonte, Odetta, the Weavers, Joan Baez and a host of others. When I was little (she was10 years older) she would sometimes read to me at bed time. She gave one of the first books I really remember. It was by Margurite Henry and it was called KING OF THE WIND. It was about  an Arabian Stallion. It was the first of many of Ms. Henry's books that I read. I still remember lines from some of them. For KING OF THE WIND, the passage I most loved was: (Sham, by the way was the horse's name.) "My name is Agba, Sham. Ba means father. And I will be a father to you, Sham. And one day I will lead you before the multitudes and they will bow before you and you will be called the King of the Wind." That may not be the exact wording, but it's pretty close. I even added a chapter to MISTY OF CHINCOTEAGUE  for a New York Times contest and was a runner up. Got to go to the big city with for the awards ceremony.  But I digresss.
Carole read my poetry and stories and believed I could be published. She encouraged my creativity. She liked me. And she loved me. How could I ask for more?
Her first car was a little Rambler that she let me drive when I was learning (the first time in my teens). Loved that car. So much better to drive than my parents Buick. When I was a sophomore in college, my big sister took me on a three week trip to Europe which she paid for. How many big sisters would do that? We had a great time. Her husband (to be) send her a dozen yellow roses when we were in Amsterdam (where at the time anyway, they told us that the only pedestrians were the quick and the dead). We were in the tiniest room you could imagine on the top floor of a canal house with a leaking skylight.. There was barely room for the two of us. It was splendid.
I had a piano teacher in my teens who thought my sister was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. He fell in love with her "bedroom eyes."  When I was young and had a habit of the grammatical fault of saying "me and,"  my sister would pretend to cry and say "You called me mean." She became (not sure why SHE got the title, but...) known as The Mean Queen. She wore hats. I loved her hats. She had one dark blue straw hat that was my favorite. She shaved and plucked her eyebrows. I wanted to be like her. She was smart and kind and passionate about ideas and politics and music and books and her children.
I know I'm rambling, that there is no order or system to this post. I miss my sister. She left three awesome children behind. I see and hear her in them. She is in the best and healthiest parts of my psyche. She was probably the one sane person in my family. She was a beautiful soul and I'm so glad to have had her in my life. She's in my heart and in my memory and in her children and grand children. But I also miss her. I loved her. And she - go figure - loved me. Being loved is a hard thing to lose.
Some things I'm grateful for today: (Items in red are pre-gratitude, an effort embrace and invoke abundance in my life.)
Weekly Wordzzle Challenge # 199
We are up to installment 39 (can you believe that!) of Paragon of Virtue, Fred Johnson's adventure in the Kingdom of Sunday, the story that keeps on going and going and going.
Running late yet again.  Got lost in politics at Huffington Post and lost all track of time. I will probably post my exercises tomorrow. Mr. Linky and the new words are available, though,  just in case anybody besides me joins in.
3:30 pm Saturday.  My nose is stuffed up, my muscles ache and my mind is blank. Totally blank. I may have to procrastinate until later tonight or tomorrow. My apologies.
6:10 pm Sunday.  Finally.  Seems to be getting increasingly difficult to do fit words into this story. Maybe because I'm ready to end it, but the words won't let me. Sigh. Such is life. Sorry to be posting so late.
Words for this week's 10 word challenge were:   universe, spotlight, sport, respect, level, larger, elsewhere, Utopia, children, silhouette   And for the mini: lines, brooks, celebrate, positive, analysis, shields
My mega:
"Well", the wizard replied to the artist's question, "though there is reason to be hopeful, we must not celebrate yet. We must engage in careful analysis, check for traps and shields and I think perhaps we should explore elsewhere in this small universe you have so ably created.  Quillard Quake viewed evil as a sport and the larger the number of victims the better in his view. He had no respect for life and would happily level a school full of children for the sheer "joy" of doing so and spotlighting his ability to do so. The larger the death toll, the happier he was. Count Psycho the elder was his most ardent pupil. Their idea of Utopia was a world in which fear reigned and the blood of innocents flowed. They literally fed on grief and pain. So, while I am as hopeful as you that we have found Amanda Purist, we must be positive that no trap has gone un-sprung. Evil of the scale we are facing, brooks no innocent mistakes. I do not mean to defeat hope - only to make sure that we do not let hope defeat us by making us careless. Let's keep looking and make certain we have left - literally - no stone unturned."  As the wizard spoke, the Paragon of Virtue had been making an effort to explore every visible surface in the cave with his eyes and senses and as Wizard Spark finished speaking, he gasped quietly. "Wizard Spark, thank you for your wisdom. Everyone - is it just me or is that the silhouette of a troll on that far wall?
My  mini:
All eyes turned to the spot to which the Paragon was pointing and after some analysis felt positive that the he was correct. "We must celebrate your keen eye, Paragon. I'm not sure I would have noticed the creature had you not pointed him out. There must be significant magical shields present for him to have escaped my dragon's eye," Paraphrase declared.  "As I recall," she said turning to the Wizard, "the Brooks Big Bully Buster is the spell of choice against trolls, is it not?"
The 10-word:
"Spot on as always, Paraphrase. My respect for your wisdom and talent grows with every passing hour."  the wizard laughed, "Brooks Big Bully Buster it is. Before we take any action, I think we should spotlight every inch of this cave to make sure our silhouetted friend there has no companions lurking elsewhere in the shadows.  Paragon, I don't believe that Troll spells were included in your education, were they? An oversight on my part. When Paraphrase and I were children, the troll population was much larger. Trolls were part of our every day universe and used to level villages for sport. -By the time I grew to adulthood, a collective of wizards and dragons united together to free ourselves of this blight on our peace and safety. As our communal ethic frowned on extermination of even the most vile species, we chose to exile them to what we hoped would be a Troll Utopia where they could satisfy their need for violence without doing any actual harm. It seems that Quake and Psycho have managed to breech that spell... We must be careful as we proceed that we do not open a door we cannot close.
