Daily Reminder # 561

Not much news tonight. The year 2011 is ticking away and the strange line of time demarcation that opens a new year is heading towards us.  I think some people think the world is coming to an end of sorts. I don't, though in some ways much of the world's population seems to be doing it's darnedest to either blow ourselves up or pollute ourselves to death. Our media tells us all the bad stuff, but I think there is much good happening too. In any case, even though New Year's Eve is one of my least favorite of all occasions, I hope you have a good one, spent wrapped in the warmth of friends, or in solitude, whichever you prefer. However you spend it, may it bring hope and love and new possibilities - and even dreams come true - in its wake.  Today will be the last reiki session for Emily (aka Cassie). I still haven't heard back from the Sanctuary, but she feels happier to me.

Some things I'm grateful for today:  (Items in red are pre-gratitude, an effort to teach myself to embrace the idea that it's OK for me to want things and OK for me to have them and at the same time to inspire in the Creative Forces of the Universe, a desire to provide me with my heart's desires.)

Weekly Wordzzle Challenge # 184

9:45 PM Sat. Finished before the old year passed away. Just realized that I repeated a word from last week on this week's list. Hate it when I do that. Sorry to be so late posting once again. I would resolve to do better in the New Year but then I'd just feel bad when I didn't live up to my promise.

Words for this week's 10-word challenge were: satin, tub, tin box, charity, folk songs, laughter, lizard, pale, barnacle, heated   And for the mini: simple, tangerine, absolute, broken, frogs

My mega:

For two days, feeling more relaxed than he had in many years, Purpose Perfidy, watched from behind the tangerine (others might call it orange, but he was a painter...tangerine was definitely more a more accurate description) glow of the protective spell in which the dragon and the wizard had wrapped him and watched while they mashed and diced and heated a weird assortment of ingredients - everything from barnacles to shards of broken glass to frog legs to herbs and spices from what he could see - in a large tub-like cauldron. He had been amazed that the dragon was more the size of large lizard than the giant monsters he had grown up fearing. Despite the fact that she small, there was a kind simple, pure charity (in the richest sense of that word) that wrapped him in a sense of absolute security, so that fear and shame and anxiety became pale shadows that could no longer touch him. She and the wizard worked and argued and filled the cave with the sound of folk songs and magical spells that sounded like satin would feel and with laughter.Despite the danger, despite being held in a stasis spell created to keep him from killing himself, the painter thought that perhaps - if he survived it all - these would be the most precious and happy days of his life. He was almost disappointed when, at the end of two days, the pair approached him carrying a small tin box and announced. "We think we are ready, that the spells and amulets we have created will protect you, but the next 24 hours will be a dangerous time for you. Before we leave the cave, you must tell us all that you remember about the painting and the spells that were cast on it - and most especially, try if you can, to remember what Psycho's father did with his son's purple teddy bear."  The painter swallowed and tried to smile. "I will do my best to atone for the wrong I have done. I didn't know what they were asking me to do, but I should have. Instead I let vanity and ambition blind me. And look at the price we have all paid."

The mini:

Even as he spoke, the tangerine glow of the protecting spell wavered as though his intention alone to tell what he knew might cause it to be broken. The painter felt a flash of absolute terror and a frog in his throat the size of the dragons of his imagination, but with simple dignity, he shook them off and looking at the wizard and the dragon, said. "I know you will protect me and I give you permission to do whatever you need to do to extract the truth from me."  "I don't believe extraction will be necessary. We have discussed it at length and believe that we can activate your visual memory and your painter's skill to tell us the story. Meanwhile, though, you would be wise to memorize the incantation Amanda Purist's father had the foresight to teach his grandson. "Remember son, the Number One,Sun to sun, the Number One, Day is Done, the Number One, that is how the spell's begun, First we dance, then we run, then we watch the web be spun. Hate expires, Love has won, Love is ONE. Dawn of day to setting sun. Remember always Number One. In fact, the first thing you must do to protect yourself is to paint that according to your artist's vision onto this stone, which you will then wear against your heart. Do not over think. Paint from your heart." So saying, they handed him a stone about the size of his fist and a box of paints. "Work quickly. Our time is short and there is still much to do."

And the 10-word:

Holding a paint brush again was healing in itself and as instructed, Purpose Perfidy let his heart create the painting that was to embody Grandfather Purists incantation and protect him in the days to come. And so he painted LOVE... he painted the satin sound of spells and folk songs and laughter, he painted the lizard-like beauty of the dragon and the glow of the wizard's huge heart as they heated ingredients in their strange tub-like caldron. He painted a pale barnacle-like thing whose meaning he didn't quite understand. He painted a tin box with the words Love and charity written across it and a tiny portrait of Amanda Purist wrapped in a rainbow of colors and holding a small purple teddy bear. And last of all - all in the tiny surface of this rock - he painted his own broken heart wrapped in the healing glow of all these other things. It was a masterpiece and because it carried such pure emotions, it was made of the deepest magic there is: Hope and Love. When the wizard and the dragon looked at is work, they laughed with delight. "You have done well, painter. You have healed yourself." Now we must head off to be ready for the full moon. You will tell us the rest of your story as we travel. Your painting has already revealed much."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Words for next week's 10-word challenge:  platitude, cow, chilly, sport, match, star, wind chimes, hood, bandage, wedding gown
And for the mini: treatment, paper, independent, brick wall, revolution
Thanks you for playing.  Newcomers can check here for some guidelines to make the game more fun. There are no rules, just some general guidelines and tricks.
Daily Reminder # 560
Except that it was bitterly cold out, it was a reasonably nice day today. This evening Shannon came by and brought me a Christmas present and baked some cookies for some school event. Since we had to turn the oven on to bake cookies (pre-made out of a can), she got to have an encounter with our resident rodent whose name is now Louise. I screamed out loud ( just like in the cartoons) when Louise made her dash for cooler climes than the oven heading right towards me, then circled a bit when she noticed the giant thing in her path and eventually disappeared at the far end of the room somewhere. Mercifully the cats were elsewhere and everyone is still alive and healthy.  Tara was gracious enough to pose for me today. I'm putting the last of her long overdue antibiotics into her food in the mornings. She ate a good deal of it this morning. Hopefully tomorrow will go as well.
Hard to believe that another year is almost over. I've been in my little house for a little over 6 years. Moved in in late November (thanks to the kindness of the sellers) and signed the contract on December 1st 2005. Time sure flies.  I think I had something else to say but I don't remember what it is. Still waiting to hear any news from Maple Farm Sanctuary about Cassie who wants to be called Emily. A lesson in patience and letting go of results. I hate lessons in patience and letting go of results.... probably why I get so many of them.
Daily Reminder # 559
I forgot about my new schedule.  Sigh. I think I will just share a video and my gratitude. Angel and I have been having words. Well I have been having words. Extremely loud words. She - who has been chewing on Christmas trees and electric wires - sits there looking all tragic and I... ME... I feel guilty. What is wrong with this picture?  I also think that my computer mouse is dying. My field mouse, alas, is not.... Well, not that I want it to die. I just want it to go away. I know I have said that before. I'm hoping if I say it often enough it will happen. I think it actually did go away for a bit and then came back. Argh. I am cranky.  Cassie the agoraphobic cow - this could be my imagination - told me this morning that she doesn't like her name. She wants to be called Emily. Do you know how foolish I feel writing to a bunch of hard working, grounded adults to tell them that their cow doesn't like her name?  (Hint: VERY.)
Here's a little Joseph Campbell. Anyone who has not seen the six part series of Conversations on The Power of Myth between Bill Moyers and Joseph Campbell at least once should make it a life mission to do so. It will enrich you. It will change you. It will lift your Spirit and touch your Soul and your imagination. I think you can watch it here for free.
and a little more Joseph Campbell...
Daily Reminder # 558
Dull gray day here.... I really have to shift back to posting at night, I think. It's almost 2 in the afternoon and I'm just starting on today's post. Very bad. Speaking of very bad. Angel is naughty on steroids at present (though she is sitting quietly at this particular second) and pretty much driving me crazy.  Besides here attacks on my little Christmas tree, she has decided that chewing on an electric wire might be a good new sport. Arrrghhh. Besides that, just when I was pondering the idea that it might be safe to use my stove, my little mouse scurried by me last night as I was feeding the girls. I REALLY wish it would go away. On the good news front, I gave myself a new nightgown and robe for Christmas. For the first time in about 8 years, I am wearing something I don't think is hideous. And they are warm, too. Yippee.  Once I get this posted, I'm off to do session six for Cassie. Still waiting for feedback. Apparently, the one person she whose presence she is able to tolerate is not that easy to get hold of. Sigh.
Wish you could have seen what the sky actually looked
like when I took this photo. It was salmon-colored and all
glowy. For some reason there are times when the camera
just erases the color. Anybody know why that happens?
Some things I'm grateful for today: (Items in red are pre-gratitude, an effort to teach myself to embrace the idea that it's OK for me to want things and OK for me to have them and at the same time to inspire in the Creative Forces of the Universe, a desire to provide me with my heart's desires.)
Daily Reminder # 557
Well, I seem to have switched over to posting in the "morning," (my morning is often other people's afternoon) which means I skipped a day. I suspect I'll go back to late evening again but for the moment I'll just post this very entertaining video (I liked it anyway) about tagging bears (to track and protect the species) up in Canada.
It becomes slightly more readable if you click on it. What it says,
besides wishing you joy and all that - is that I'd appreciate it if you
would send prayers and love to Cassie, the cow I am reiki-ing. You
can learn her story here at the Maple Farms Sanctuary website.
Daily Reminder # 556 - Merry Christmas
I think I will let Neale Donald Walsh's Message for the day be today's post.  I'm still working on my e-card. I'm so behind schedule.
On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
...that the reason so much of humanity commemorates
this day is that so much of humanity seeks to give and
receive love.
During this holy time, know that all times are holy, that
every religion holds truth, that each tradition is sacred,
and that it is in the simple sharing of love that we make
our beliefs come alive, and our dreams come true.
Let this Christmas Day remind us that Christ came to
invite us to offer love to all humankind, and to open the
door of God's kingdom to every soul.
Merry Christmas, everyone.
Love, Your Friend....
neale
I'll keep gratitude short today.  I'm grateful for life, love, laughter.
I'm grateful for my two silly, naughty, goofy, irritating, lovable kitties - Angel (ha!) and Tara Grace!.
I'm grateful for my nephew Matt and his wonderful wife, Maritchka, who makes him so very happy. I'm grateful for my niece Cindy, her husband Rick and her two awesome children, Annika and Trevor. I'm grateful for my youngest niece Diana and her husband-ish John.  They are all awesome and all very good to me.
I'm grateful for friends, neighbors, for those who stop by this blog.  I'm grateful for beauty and the wonders of life. I try to be grateful for the downs as well as the ups, but that's not always easy.
For so many things.  For each of you.  May you be blessed with love and joy and all good things.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
HAPPY  HOLIDAYS!
WISHING YOU JOY AND PEACE!
Daily Reminder # 555
This is a card from a few years back. Haven't done
this year's yet. Why plan ahead when you can
do things at the last minute?
My digestive system is quite (rightly) peeved with me this evening, so I'm going to cheat yet again and just post a video or two.  I did my second session Cassie today. Less drama than the first, but I felt like she was receiving the energy.  Got a brief email from the woman who corresponds that she will share my feedback with the people to tend to Cassie and let me know how she's doing.  I'm tempted to just copy yesterday's gratitude, but that' not really the same as doing it, so I'll just be an honest failure instead of a pretend promise keeper.
This was last year or the year before. Forget which.
The video is one I may have posted before because I really like it and think the words (posted below) are a good message.
Let me fall
Let me climb
There's a moment when fear
And dreams must collide
Someone I am
Is waiting for courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me
So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear them
Let me fall
If I fall
Though the phoenix may
Or may not rise
I will dance so freely
Holding on to no one
You can hold me only
If you too will fall
Away from all these
Useless fears and chains
Someone I am
Is waiting for my courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me
So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear
Let me fall
If I fall
There's no reason
To miss this one chance
This perfect moment
Just let me fall
Last year, I think. Maybe the year before...
May We All Dance Freely
and have a wonderful holiday season
FINALLY finished at 11:24 pm on Christmas Eve.  Not thrilled with what I have written, but grateful to have written anything at all. Sorry to be so late, though, what with Christmas and everything, I imagine nobody has noticed.
Word for this week's 10-word challenge were:  speaker, moose, garbage, clouds, SOS, simple, calendar, entertaining, wool, bananas   And for the mini: sweet, whimper, orange glow, flute, dose
My mega:
Back at the Dragon's cave, Purpose Perfidy whimpered in the orange glow of a cloud of protective magical stasis. He was frightened although he knew that they were trying to help him but every fiber of his being wanted to run away screaming SOS at the top of his lungs. It didn't help that he was - he knew - in the beginning of alcohol withdrawal so that he felt unable to discern between what was real and what was hallucinations. At one point, the wizard, who sensed his panic, had come over and had put some musical speakers that played calming flute music and suggested that he concentrate on some one thing to help keep his fear minimal. Fear, he said would feed the curse and weaken the protective magic. Purpose had chosen to focus on a picture of what appeared to be a moose on a calendar not far from where they had placed him. The music was like a dose of a strong tranquilizer. He drifted in and out of consciousness. In this more relaxed state, it was almost entertaining to watch the wizard and the dragon sort through what looked like a pile of garbage - bones, banana peels, balls of wool yarn and other oddities - while whispering (it seemed to him) feverishly to one another. And then he heard what sounded like laughing and a sweet voice saying: "Who would have thought it could be so simple!! and then she was singing the words "Remember son, the Number One, Sun to sun, the Number One, Day is Done, the Number One, that is how the spell's begun, First we dance, then we run, then we watch the web be spun. Hate expires, Love has won, Love is ONE. Dawn of day to setting sun. Remember always Number One."  As she sang, it was as if a darkness lifted out of him... and then he fainted
My mini:
Paraphrase and Spark looked at the unconscious painter and discussed whether it would be safer to leave him in the orange glow of protection for a little longer. He was still whimpering, even in his unconscious state. I wouldn't put it past Psycho's father to have embedded a second curse, plus he is going through withdrawal, I believe.. Perhaps we should dose him with something as well. Any ideas, my sweet and beautiful dragon?"  "Can you turn the flute music off, please," the dragon replied and began a slow rhythmic chant. "I do sense a second spell, but first, I think we need to treat the alcohol poisoning. Do you think thistle bane and dragon flower would do it?" "I bow to your wisdom, great one. I will return in a blink," he replied and vanished into thin air.
My 10-word:
Good as his word, the wizard reappeared almost instantly, carrying a large basket of herbs and fruits and a number of odd-looking amulets. Handing her a small dish of salmon colored paste, he told her, "According to Confetti, bananas and moose berries are particularly effective at minimizing alcohol craving. His potion (that's what it is really... the man is a wizard in my book) clears the mind - helps pull the wool, out, is how Confetti put it. Funny how the Paragon and I went to find this man thinking him to be human garbage like Psycho's father, only to find he is just another victim. I suppose I should have known that nobody truly evil could have painted that portrait. Have you come up with anything new, Paraphrase? Sorry to be rambling on so. I have to admit this whole thing has me somewhat shaken." "I know what you mean, Spark," the dragon replied. "I'm entertaining the idea that this is a Speaker SOS interlaced with a Clouds the mind spell. It won't be as simple as we might wish to break him free.  I think Confetti's beverage is a good first step. Speaker SOS is best broken under a full moon. Looking at my calender, that gives us three days to prepare. Hopefully, when he has recovered, he will have a clue for us as to where we can find the Purple Teddy bear.  Given the depth of the elder Psycho's evil, I have brought us each a protective amulet. I would not put it past the man to have embedded magic land mines into his spell." Than god for the genius and foresight of Amanda Purist's father and for his grandson's memory. There is hope for the kingdom, Paraphrase. Hope at last and this poor soul is one of the keys to unlock the prison in which we have all been held for so long. We must proceed with every caution our age and wisdom offers us... and with as much haste as possible.
