Weekly Wordzzle Challenge # 202

We are up to installment 42 of Paragon of Virtue, Fred Johnson's adventure in the Kingdom of Sunday, the story that I can't seem to finish off, though I seem to be creeping slowly towards a conclusion. Running way behind schedule, so that's this week's excuse to post Mr. Linky and the new words and do my exercises tomorrow.

Alas, it is late Saturday afternoon and I have only written about one sentence and have little enthusiasm to do more. My bloody smoke/bug zappers have been having a busy day. They have gone off 5 times so far, once lasting long enough for the little disembodied voice to come on and say "You must evacuate the building." Sigh. Angel is deeply traumatized by the invisible monsters which go off, not just in one room but because they are linked, go off in three rooms. Oh, the joy.  Anyway, after I have dinner, maybe I'll get ambitious. Otherwise, tomorrow....

Sunday 1:20 pm - just starting to make another try.... hopefully I'll be done before 3:00 when I have to do some reiki.

Sunday: 2:45 pm - Made it with 15 minutes to spare. Yikes, but this gets toughter ever week.

Words for this week's 10 word challenge were:  cactus, treading water, bear, sluggish, advantage, fairness, diversion, rocking chair, threat, fix   And for the mini: lost, chartreuse, robust, sustained, believe

My mega:

With a robust laugh, the old wizard, declared, "Armadillo, Agrivold, this is wonderful news indeed. In this dangerous endeavor, any advantage is a blessing indeed. Do your best. Is there any way in which the rest of us can facilitate your communication?"  Agrivold replied quietly, "A bit of Chartreuse cactus juice has always helped me fix my attention in a more sustained way. I believe there is something in it's chemical composition that facilitates focus and clears any mental sluggishness." "Charteuse cactus!" the wizard exclaimed, "one of the lost legends of magical lore. I remember my grandfather in his later days, settled into his rocking chair rambling on about the wonders of chartreuse cactus. I am ashamed to admit that - ignorant youngster that I was - I thought him to be a doddering old fool. In fairness, his mind had begun to fail and I was told not to trust his words. Still, it is delightful to learn something new even at my age." So saying, he produced from thin air, two large casks marked in bright green and gold with the worlds CHARTREUSE CACTUS beneath which was a logo that looked like a bear treading water. "Now, my dragon friends, let us see if you can reach Lady Purist and discover what threats and diversions await us behind that wall.

My mini:

The two dragons each lifted one the casks and took a sustained swallow of the Chartreuse cactus juice. "I believe that is the finest, most robust vintage I have ever tasted." Armadillo declared happily. "Let us hope we have not lost our gift for connection. Are you ready brother?" "I am," the smaller, younger dragon replied. "I am thinking perhaps you should try to converse with the Lady while I try to look around through her eyes." "Agreed. Let's get to it, then."

And the 10-word:

"Thank you again for the cactus juice," he said nodding to the wizard. "I feel my sluggish brain finding it's focus. I sense the lady's presence. Her mind seems like it is treading water and struggling to hold a fix on reality." Agrivold then continued, "I feel her seated on a rocking chair surrounded by blank stone walls. The lack of diversion has been the greatest threat to her sanity over all these years. Her emotional pain is almost impossible to bear. She fears our arrival means she is losing her struggle with madness." Armadillo spoke again. "I am sharing images of recent events, trying to persuade her to trust us and let her know that we are here to rescue her and restore fairness and justice to the kingdom of Sunday... I have told her we are right outside her prison and that we need her to look around her cave so that my brother can see through her eyes and give us as much advantage as possible against any traps or tricks that may await us." Again Agrivold spoke. "I feel hope seeping into her parched spirit. She is allowing me to look through her eyes and re-awakening her senses. I see nothing yet... but... I sense something behind her.... Oh, my! he exclaimed. to the transfixed group that stood hanging on the brothers' every word."
