Daily Reminder # 595

Well, I didn't take any pictures again, so I'm going to have to mess around with some existing ones and pretend I'm being creative.  Neale Donald Walsh's message from God is pretty intense today...  I've gotten better at letting go of the belief that people need to be rescued by me. I suck so badly at my own life, yet there's a part of me that thinks I can do everyone else's so much better than they are doing it. I do know better, but there IS a part of me that would love to micromanage other people. What's the old saying... "those who can DO, those who can't teach."  Anyway, here's Neale's advice for today.

On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
...that nobody needs your help.

I know, I know...this is a difficult one.
But it is true. Yetthis does not mean no one
wants your help, or that noone could use your
help. It simply means the thought that another
Aspect of Divinity is powerless without you is inaccurate.

Do not do something, therefore, because you
think someone else needs you. That only builds
resentment. Do whatever you do as a means of deciding,
declaring, creating, and experiencing who you are--and
who you choose to be. Then you will never feel victimized,
powerless, or without choice. Yes? You see how
simple it all is? Get out of victimhood.

Love, Your Friend....

Daily Reminder # 594

I have nothing again. No pictures. No ideas.  I do have a request. Angel seems to have hurt her foot. I noticed drops of blood when I put the garbage out but didn't realize until a short time ago that she must have caught her claw on something. It's very tender to the touch. Any prayers in her direction would be much appreciated.

For the rest, I will have to go forage at YouTube and see what they have to offer.  Think I will ramble through the past a bit.

This is a wonderful, haunting song from the Weavers...  (My sister introduced me to a lot of wonderful musicians - the Weavers, Joan Baez, Harry Belafonte... and others I can't think of at the moment.)

This one is new to me.

This one is a favorite

And a little Bob Dylan. Saw him in concert once.

Daily Reminder # 592

Well I forgot to do the reminder yesterday. Well, to be accurate, I remembered in late afternoon and decided not to do anything about it and shift back to posting at night even though that means technically, I'll have skipped a day. Unless, I post before midnight. I suppose I could do that. Anyway... Think I'm going to give tonight to Neale Donald Walsch again. This is a good one, especially, right at this moment, for the friend for whom I am writing these posts. For myself, I have been feeling lonely these days... and a bit achy. Such is life. Today was a whine to my therapist day. Poor man earns his pittance.  Anyway, here's Neale's message from God.

On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
...that God is talking to you every minute of
every hour of every day.

You are never alone, or without help or guidance,
counsel or advice. You need but purely and earnestly
ask a question and God will answer you, directly
and immediately.

The answer may come in an unexpected form, but it
will come.Your only job then will be to not ignore it;
to see it for what it is. For all you know these very words
may be an answer to your question about whether God
is even listening to you or offering you guidance.
.
Love, Your Friend....

Daily Reminder # 591

I have not an idea in my head today.  I do have some congestion, a mild headache and a bad disposition. I got this in my email this morning and I thought they were pretty amusing, so I'm going to use them as today's post. They aren't attributed to anybody, so I'm assuming that I'm not violating any copyright.

Paraprosdokian: "A figure  of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected; frequently used in a humorous  situation."  For example: "Where there's a will, I  want to be in it!"

1. Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down  to his level and beat you with experience.

2. The  last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's still on my  list.

3. Light travels faster than sound. This is  why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

4. If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

5. We never really  grow up, we only learn how to act in public.

6.  War does not determine who is right - only who is left..

7. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit.  Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

8.  Evening news is where they begin with 'Good Evening,' and  then proceed to tell you why it isn't.

9. To steal  ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is  research.

10. A bus station is where a bus stops.  A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have  a work station.

11. I thought I wanted a career.  Turns out I just wanted paychecks.

12. Whenever I  fill out an application, in the part that says, 'In case  of emergency, notify:' I put 'DOCTOR.'

13. I  didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

14. Women will never be equal to men until they  can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut,  and still     think they are sexy.

1
5. Behind every successful  man is his woman. Behind the fall of a successful man is  usually another woman.

1
6. A clear conscience is  the sign of a fuzzy memory.

17. You do not need a  parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive  twice.

18. Money can't buy happiness, but it sure  makes misery easier to live with.

19. There's a  fine line between cuddling and holding someone down so  they can't get away.

20. I used to be indecisive.  Now I'm not so sure.

21. You're never too old to  learn something stupid.

22. To be sure of  hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit  the target.

23. Nostalgia isn't what it used to  be.

24. Change is inevitable, except from a vending  machine.

25. Going to church doesn't make you a  Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a  car.

I think I'm going to skip the gratitude list today and just do it in my achy head instead.

WISHING YOU SMILES AND LAUGHTER!

Weekly Wordzzle Challenge # 189

I'm still going with the story of Fred Johnson, Paragon of Virtue and his adventures in the Kingdom of Sunday, which will hopefully draw to a close in a few more weeks or months. I still can't believe the story has been going on for more than six months. Amazing.

Finally posting on Saturday afternoon. 4:00 pm. Had a tough time again this week. Sorry to be so late.

Words for this week's 10-word challenge were:  brick wall, plumage, suspense, stripes, wheels, fire, augment, shrug, speculate, questions   And for the mini: melody, crank, broken, space, chill

My mega:

A chill went through the Paragon's entire being and his mind was immediately on fire with questions and an agonized sense of suspense as he instinctively began to speculate about what new peril was about to wash over them, what new brick wall they would be forced to pound their heads against. Quick as a flash, he crossed the space to where the wizard, McFlash, and dragon were standing, the wheels of his imagination spinning wildly, his sense of anxiety cranked to the max,  expecting some broken horror or monster to be dealt with. Imagine his surprise, then, to find not monsters, but two somewhat befuddled human beings trying to shrug off the stiffness of more than 30 years trapped in wooden bodies. Melody and Wallace Stripes were toy makers and were unsure as to why they had been caught in the elder Psycho's curse on them and their shop. Melody, for her part, seemed more excited by seeing a dragon with such beautiful "plumage" as she called Paraphrase's iridescent scales. "Come, my friends," the wizard said after a few moments. "We were about to eat. Perhaps some food will speed your recovery and help restore your memories. Hopefully, you will be able to help us reverse the monstrous evil that was done here, not just to you but to Count Psycho's mother, Amanda Purist. Your memories - as they return - may augment our ability to proceed wisely and to restore the Kingdom of Sunday to happier days.

My mini:

As they approached the others and a make-shift table now laden with wonderful delicacies prepared by Confetti, evil spell which had seem to permeate the old toy store seemed to be broken. Psycho and Bubbles happily made space for Melody and Wallace at the table and just the aroma of Confetti's magnificent meal seemed to take the chill out of the air. They ate mostly in a kind of peaceful silence, each lost in his or her own thoughts. Halfway through dessert, though, Melody Stripes whispered something to her husband and he nodded. Gazing at Psycho, she said "Can it be that you are the child of Lady Purist? Has that much time passed? Oh, my!"  And rising hurriedly from the table, she scurried off, muttering, "It must be here somewhere... it must..." She proceeded to rummage through the rotting and overturned toys until at last she came upon what appeared to be an old jack in the box. "Yes!"  Returning to the table, she excitedly turned the crank until the lid popped with a small whoosh.

And the 10-word:

There was a collective gasp of surprise as out popped - not a clown, but a small purple teddy bear, wearing a tiny, intricately woven shrug cape augmented with dragon scales and the plumage of a fire bird. "My bear!" Psycho exclaimed with child-like delight as Melody Stripes gently lifted the small toy out of its hiding place and handed it to him. "How on earth did you get it?" The suspense around the table was palpable. You could see mental wheels turning and questions forming in every mind as each tried to speculate on the meaning of this unexpected discovery. "Why, your mother gave it to me and begged me to hide it and return it to you. She was so kind I would never refuse her and was able to put it into the jack in the box while Wallace distracted them.  It was your father, Count, and two others I did not recognize. They pushed her to the brick wall at the back of our shop, but first, one of them painted something (he seemed like he was under a spell or something) on it and the other spoke strange words and put some kind of potion on each of the corners, I think. They remembered our presence then and that is the last thing I remember until today. Your mother seemed to think the bear was very important. I'm sorry I was not able to return it sooner." Tears trickled from the Count's eyes. "You were kind to her when she most needed help and you have paid a heavy price. You have nothing to apologize for, Mrs.Stripes. Another Day Off... My Apologies

I kind of forgot about the blog this morning. Not feeling very well. Headache, have cold and feeling cold (I could turn the thermostat up to fix that one and I think I will).  Big adventure last night. One of the free games I downloaded crashed the computer and I had to unplug it to get it to turn off. Given the way things are set up and my physical issues, this was not easy. What was more difficult, alas, was plugging it back IN. And while I was messing with all that I accidentally unplugged the phone jack and couldn't find THAT in the debris behind the little shelf I keep next to the desk. It took me something like 2 and half exhausting hours to unplug and replug. The upside of the whole ordeal (and it really was an ordeal) was that I found about 10 missing cat toys, and cleaned up some other stuff that had fallen behind the shelf.

None of this is really an excuse to take a day off, but I'm doing it anyway, especially since I still have to do Wordzzles this afternoon. Apologies.

WISHING YOU A SPLENDID DAY!

Daily Reminder # 589

I almost forgot that I'm doing the blog in the daytime right now. (This will not last.)  Puxatawny Phil did NOT see his shadow this morning. Winter will drag on according to legend. That said, this has been an exceptionally winter-less winter by and large and apparently the ground hog population has forgotten to tell the trees and the squirrels that there will be no early Spring. Silly Groundhog. I found this kind of interesting item about the history of Ground Hog Day for those with time on their hands.

Other than that, there was another good message from Neale Donald Walsch today.  By becoming a virtual hermit, I avoid the necessity for acting on such wisdom, but it's still a good thought to put out there.  I think sometimes for some of us who, for most of our lives have been bullied and abused, it gets hard to let go of control or to trust the future. We need help and we fear help and we don't know how to receive help. Accepting that I was disabled was a huge bridge for me to cross. Asking for help was a huge bridge.  Taking the help has been another battle. I still feel guilty about it. On the surface, I have learned to take whatever help I can get, but it is still a war. When Republican think tanks issue reports saying you aren't poor if you have a refrigerator or a TV, the community of Demonalians who live inside my head form a committee and offer up all the reasons why I am a blight on the face of the Universe, a waste of space and the reason for everything that is wrong in the world.... I'm not sure why I'm talking about this or how it's relevant. In the end, the person we need to persuade, the person or persons we are doing battle with are the voices in our head. For me, the internalized versions of my mother and brother are the biggest problem.  Some idiot at Huffington Post says, "if you're poor how come you have a computer?" and all my buttons get pushed , in part, because I ask myself the same question.  Part of me thinks I should live on bread and water (at best) and have nothing. Part of me has more compassion. It can be very exhausting to be me. But I'm rambling. I'm not sure that any of this has anything to do with the message but I am seem compelled to put it out there, so maybe somebody somewhere needs to hear it. Or not. Anyway, here's what Neale and God have to say:

On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
...that giving up is not the answer.  Neither is giving in.

Stand your ground.
There is a way of doing that without having to be
combative. There is a way of hanging on to your true self,
and demonstrating it, without resorting to aggression.
But giving up and giving in is not the way.

Simply and quietly claiming your right to be You
is the way.

You know exactly why you received this message today.

Love, Your Friend....

Daily Reminder # 588

Well, I'm giving today's reminder to Neale Donald Walsch. It's a really good one. In my  own case, I hope it means that Publisher's Clearinghouse is finally going to come through with the check. But I'll accept any and all "good" that the Universe wants to send my way. May everyone of you who reads this feel it's truth in their bones and receive the best that the Universe can give you.

On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
...that great and unexpected good is coming to you now.

You've been waiting for a shift in energy, and that shift
has occurred. All you have to do now is get ready to receive
your new-found good. Be on the lookout. It may come
at a time and in a way that you could not have
anticipated or imagined.
.
Love, Your Friend....
