Progress So Far

Shannon generously came by and took some pictures from outside of how things are looking so far. I was going to ask them to use some of the big stone blocks (see the pile to the side in the first photo?) and put them as a step where the gate is, but I might ask if it's possible to make a wooden step, which would probably be better. It may be that the budget is the budget and that no changes can be made now. But it would be nice. It's a big step as it is now. Not as big as getting in and out of the house used to be, but big.

One can always ask! that does look like a high step.

And is there enough room left for a bench at the top of the porch? The edge looks very close to the door.

I think the idea is to make a small angled seat that doesn't interfere with opening the door. It's not going to be very wide, but if you look at the first of the pictures I posted Thursday, there's about 12 inches between the back and the gate. I think they were supposed to build it back a little bit, but I'm not sure. It will not be the most comfortable bench for someone of my size but it will be something.

This is so exciting seeing it all come together! Maybe you'll need to do a 'blog' housewarming when it's finished. You post the photos, we'll all send the virtual food and drink and prayers for happiness!

Very nice entrance to your home. I hope that you can have a little seat out side.

I can't believe they would put the gate in and not think it needed a step. I'm crossing my fingers for you. :)
Looking good!

Well it's always worth asking they can only say yay or nay! :)

It's looking good.

That porch is really sweet. Your home is too. But you need the step!

It does appear a step would be in order... but maybe they figure most people will just walk up the ramp? I'm with Quilly though - it can never hurt to ASK! It sure looks nice!
