Renovation Traumas: Update

Well, I guess no renovation would be complete without a mishap or two...

First problem was the seat in the shower which was too high for me. I could just manage (not too comfortably) it when it was dry, but turn the shower on and I felt like I was going to slide off. So... they have to take it out and put it back in again.

Then this morning the sink came. It's like a sink for giants. There was pretty universal agreement that it was unusually tall, though there was some hemming and hawing about it. Measured, it's almost 37 inches high. These people are SO kind. They found a different sink that they had available and they'll replace this one on Wednesday or Thursday, depending on when the plumber is available. The replacement will be 34" high... or maybe he said 32.... anyway... more my speed. Is it me, or does this thing look hugely tall? Alas, all this means another two or three days with no bathroom sink, but if that's the worst thing that happens to me, I'm pretty lucky.

One last thought... It's funny that I thought that toilet looked pretty huge... until the sink came.... now the toilet looks positively puny.

It's all going to be wonderful, though. And it will have pretty pale blue walls when it's done too.

That sink is ridiculously high! LOL

Especially when you consider that the toilet is an ADA (Americans with Disabilities) "Comfort height," so it's extra tall.

I'm so glad they agreed to replace it. They really are nice people.

Definitely too high unless you're a basketball player!
I'm so glad Fred and this team are understanding.

As a rather short person. I hate when things are too high. At work, the other week, they put up hand gel dispensers to combat swine flu, but they're about 6 feet up on the wall. I have to stretch up to use them. We're lucky we don't have any wheelchair users in the place: they'd have no chance! Hope all the work is over soon and you're able to enjoy the new features of your hmoe.

When they said PEDESTAL sink they didn't mean to put it UP on a pedestal! LOL! That's crazy! I'm glad they will be able to fix it for you! And the shower seat too!

Pale blue, huh? It will be very pretty indeed!

I'm surprised they even had a bathroom sink that high. Even kitchen counters are only 36" tall. Nice that they are going to take care of it for you.

What a great sink...(for really tall people). Now me... I'm short! Can't wait to see the finish. You're getting close.

By the way... I have an award for you on my blog. Come get it!

That sink is very tall. This all has a Gulliver's travels feel to it. Glad they'll be replacing it soon!

Sorry it's taking a bit longer with the set-backs, but just think how great it will be when it's done!!! You so deserve it!!!

Will they start on the kitchen as soon as the bathroom is done?

I'm glad that everyone else sees that sink the way I saw it. Thanks everyone for your enthusiasm about this.

Jeff - thanks for saying that. One guy went into my kitchen (which is built for giants) and said - "see, it's not that tall...) I had gone and looked at Loewe's and the tallest one I saw there was 36, most seemed to say 35.

Gabrielle - Gulliver's Travels is a perfect description.

Kim - I'm so grateful for this, though I will be glad to have it finished. I'm hoping tomorrow but it may be Thursday... not sure when the kitchen will start. Depends on when the cabinets arrive and then on their schedule too. They told me yesterday that business is booming, which is nice to hear in this economy.

Janie B - thanks for the award. I'll stop by soon.
