Daily Reminder # 542

My father would have been 101 today if he were still alive. I miss my parents. My family was a bunch of crazy people. With the exception of my brother they were very NICE crazy people, but crazy none-the-less. I loved them dearly even though they made me crazy too and as often as not made me feel inadequate and ugly.  Maybe I don't miss them as much as I miss the idea of them. Family - even a group that runs a small private 5-person insane asylum - means you belong somewhere and to someone. Family makes you part of something... Family is home even if it's dysfunctional home. It's what you knew from day one and where some part of your psyche belongs.

I wanted to post a picture of my Dad, but I don't have any scanned into the computer (thought I did, but couldn't find any) and my printer has gone the way of kitty abuse, so all you get is "artsy" messed with tree branches and this weird little rant about family. (Can you tell that I'm feeling lonely?)  No report on Tara today as the Vet isn't available over the weekend. Sigh.

Some things I'm grateful for today: (Items in red are pre-gratitude, an effort to permit myself to want things and to persuade the Creative Forces of the Universe that I am worthy of having them.)

Families can be crazy, that's for sure and we don't get to choose them either. My connection with mine is that shared history we have from the days we all lived together. Other than that we don't share many of the same interests or anything, so in many ways my friends are a lot closer to me. Sending all good wishes to Tara Grace, hope she's back soon.

Anniversaries are bittersweet. I am glad you have fond memories and a sense of belonging. Being separated from Tara Grace must make today all the more poignant. Wishing health for Tara and a happy homecoming.
