Ruby Tuesday: Little Bits of Red

Maryt/The Teach over at Work of the Poet has something called Ruby Tuesday which featuring all things red.

This week she requested that we post things with just a little red, so I went with a bunch of odd, not particularly good pictures from nature. I do kind of like the one with the cardinal. I think I figured out why some of the pictures come out fuzzy and some come out sharp. I'm probably the only person who cares about this, but it's my blog so I'll tell you anyway. My theory is that since all my photos are taken through the glass of my window or back door, when the light isn't good, the pictures are blurrier. When the sun is really bright, they come out more clear. I think.

I debated with myself as to whether the center of these flowers is red or reddish, but there's spot in this picture that really is red... I have no idea why there's red on the stone, but it seems to be there. Another mystery I'll probably never get an answer to.

This may really be brown but it looks red to me so...

HAPPY RUBY TUESDAY!

Hi Raven! you found some great splashes of red around your place. I love the bird. I don't know when I last saw a red bird...

I love the first leaf in the grass and the cardinal is wonderful! Those are my favorites.

You're right about the glass - I found that to be true when I do my through the window ones for Thursdays. Bright sunshine and it doesn't look like glass much at all.

Dear Raven,
What a neat job you have done shooting all those pictures with a splash of red!
Seems like they are taken just this week from the sight of the fading summer-green.
Impressive that you are able to find such elaborate motives from behind a window.
I'm so terribly shortsighted, must always have my nose almost in the motive. That's why a seagull is the only bird I've caught with my cellphonecam.
I guess you can be "relatively" happy because of the way you exploit every positive opportunity of life.
I always enjoy scrolling down when visiting your blog.
You sure are a lady with a broad horizon.

I like the ones of the turning leaves, even if they are reminding us that summer is rapidly ending.

Wow, you really went out of your way. Great catches. I would have never spotted the red on that stone. Sharp eye!

I love all your subtle red choices. I usually do my Ruby Tuesday post early in the morning, and I've usually thought about it for a week, so by the time I read her "little bit" my tomatoes where already up. Maybe in a month.

Love the berries, the bird, the leaf, the flower centers.

Love the cardinal... that's the state bird here.

Dear Raven...Thank you so much for visiting me and telling me that you will be praying for Betty. I will have to make that ruby frame a little darker, eh? Because you are in there!

I love all of these pictures. They remind me of the yard of the house where I used to look after an elderly lady. She had all kinds of wild flowers and the cardinals she used to get were so many. I used to fill the bird feeder as full as I could to attract them, I never did get such a good picture that you have here!!!...Terry

Good evening Raven, Your pictures come out very good through the window.... I love the "red cardinal" the best...he looks like a fat little bird from eating all of the berries..thanks for sharing and visiting my place today...

Shooting through glass definitely messes with the focus of a photo, especially if you are using auto-focus. The camera "sees" the glass before it "sees" the object on the other side, so focuses on that instead.

I love the cardinals. We have a forsythia and during the winter, I see them just sitting on the leafless shrub, male and female. With snow on the ground, it is a great sight!
