One Single Impression: Bleeding

This week's prompt for One Single Impression was "bleeding." Afraid that took me to dark political places and not very good poetry. I hope I haven't broken any copyright laws with the second image which is the poster of Bush's face made up of a mosaic of faces of those who have died in his "war." Afraid the state of the nation, the state of the world makes my heart bleed but I wasn't able to put it into poems very well this week.

Actually, I thought these were very appropriate considering Memorial Day is coming up soon. I really liked your play on bleeding heart liberal. These are necessary thoughts. BTW your link on OSI is not working at least for me. Peace, friend.

Raven, I'm bowled over by the first haiku! Incredible! :)

quietpaths - thanks for letting me know about the link and for your kind words.

the teach - wow. Glad you liked it. Not in a good head space this morning, so an incredible is a great ego boost for me. Thanks.

I'm with Quiet Paths. I especially like the play on "bleeding heart liberal" followed by the very delicate one of this flower. Thanks for going into the dark world of war for us.

as a student of history, i have always struggled with the idea of a war as 'civil' too. even though i know the technical meaning implied, it just doesn't seem right.

sandycarlson - thanks... this is just one of those days when I hate everything.... That bleeding heart done that way looks kind of like a medal doesn't it? I didn't notice that until I read your comment... which didn't say it, but made me go look at the last two juxtaposed against each other. Hmmm.

qualcosa di bello - It really is ironic that such a bloody war - and an INTERNAL war should carry a name with two such opposing meanings.

Oh Raven, the first poem, to me, is stunning and true. You are right. Why have they died? Nobody seems to know anymore; yet more have to die to justify the death of others? How ridiculous is that? I never saw that collage of Bush. I hope he has seen it. I hope it is up on his wall. I hope he can put names to each person there.

Bleeding heart liberal. Wow. I am enjoying and finding a lot of reflection in your haiku (s).

Sorry I have been just so incredibly busy and I know once school ends, I'll be able to get back to my friends in the blogosphere!

hi again Raven: I took the liberty to delete the incorrect link so that nobody would click it. I'm glad you saw that and fixed it. I never knew how to do that until a couple weeks ago!!

Yes, "no war is civil," and I too am proud to be a bleeding heart for our world.

These Haiku are great Raven. I have thought so much about those parents bleeding tears in the past few years. When my son was born I wondered if he would have to fight in the Vietnam war. Now I worry that my Grandson may have to fight in this war. SAD

Living in the land that has never accepted its defeat, I have wandered through the battlefields with my husband. When you stand at Shiloh and look into "Bloody Pond" and see the burial trenches, it is very apparent that no war could possibly be civil. And, unfortunately, war could never lead to peace, only further war.

andree - I don't understand war myself. It never seems justified to me, just stupid and ugly. As for Bush, I don't think he has the decency to recognize or truly empathize with the loss of others. Maybe I'm to hard on him. I wish he was in prison for his crimes against the nation. I'm ashamed that he hasn't even been tried. Oh, - thanks for deleting the broken link. And thanks again to quietpaths for pointing it out to me.

snoopmurph - good to see you. You have such a full plate that I'm honored you find the time at all. Thanks for telling me about sc2toggers. It was very funny. Missed you at wordzzles.

roswilla - Hopefully the tide is turning and liberalism will be recognized for the good it carries and we will get out from under the slander of Republicans who have shown their true colors (and true talents) the past 7 years. (I apologize to any Republicans. I used to be an independent; now I'm an anti-Republican bigot.)

lisa at greenbow - It all just makes me so sad and angry that any young men should be damaged - whether psychically or physically but this insanity. I hope it is soon behind us and that your grandson and children for 7 x 7 generations never see war again.

pam - "the land that has never accepted defeat," wonderful (if sad) phrase. I still hold out hope that the peacemakers will eventually make their voices heard and that as human beings/citizens here and everywhere, we'll refuse to let any moron like Bush lead us into war ever again.

Tis a strange name for the flower.

We just found bleeding hearts in our flower garden left over from the previous owners. They are a funny flower - but pretty. :)
