One Single Impression: Reflecting

This week's prompt for One Single Impression was "reflecting." Only able to cough out two haiku, one haiku-ish poem and one long one. Not sure how my attempts at graphic creativity work in terms of readability (or anything else), but I had to try.

Solemn reflection
Gives me reason to feel joy
I am deeply blessed
~~~~~~~~~~~
Reflected in your loving eyes
I see my own beauty
And I am caught by surprise
If you click on this one, you can see a larger, easier to read version. It's kind of stupid graphically, but I worked hard on it, so I refuse to give it up. Hmmm. Reflecting on good judgment, I seem to be lacking...
I was inspired by Nature Tales and Camera Trails post to add one more of my own. Hers is much better, but I even though this is a failed photo, I find it intriguing.
Raven,
I like the layers of perspective in the crow photo. It is surprising. The blackness draws me into my own thoughts. It is a wonderful, suggestive piece. I think it's well done, as are the others here.
good work, but especially love the crow one.
IMHO, that's not a failed photo! It's dreamy and surreal.
Your long reflection poem reminds me of a failed dreamku of mine:
coulda lived better
coulda lived a whole lot worse
life is in the “is”
Oh, Raven! I disagree with you; I love the crow and the reflections within the photo.
I burst out laughing at your first Haiku! 'is that old hag me?' brought me back to the very moment I walked by my living room mirror and saw, for the first time, my own MotherDear gazing back at me! That was truly a life moment!
I just loved them all! Well done!
All wonderful pieces on reflections and 'reflecting upon my life'. It is full of words of wisdom and suffice to say, I identify strongly with it as I'm sure many others do to.
I love your Crow photo and the transparency it portrays with the skeltal branches layering over its body. I can see the similarities of your Crow photo to my Cat one. Thank you for the comments and link to my blog; your response to it is gratifying.
Katherine (I hope I'm spelling your name correctly) thanks for your birthday wishes! I really appreciate them. You're no OLD HAG!
I love this one: Reflected in your loving eyes
I see my own beauty
And I am caught by surprise
Good job! And of course your long poem is incredible! :D
sandy - thanks. I like the photo myself, though it's kind of weird. I like the way the reflection overlays the bird. Would be better if he had come out in better focus, but...
hi polona - thanks
roswila - I don't think that's a failed haiku - I think it's brilliant - deepness with laughter in it.
willthink4wine - thanks. What is really bugging me about aging is my hands. They have started to look old... and they just don't look like "my" hands any more. The rest of me, I'm kind of used to, though I'm surprised from time to time at the person I see.
nature tales and camera trails - your post reminded me that this photo was lurking in my files. I called it failed and it is in a way. I should have added that I loved it the minute I saw it just because it's so odd and unexpected.
theteach - thanks and Happy Birthday again. I like the one you mentioned too. At a workshop I went to years ago before I became a hermit, we did an exercise. We paired off and had to look with unconditional love into each other's eyes. I was paired with a total stranger. It was an awesome experience. Looking into his eyes and seeing his beauty, I truly did see it reflected back at me. It was incredible.
Isn't it wonderful how different we look through the lens of love? I think the crow shadow is wonderful.
All these poems are excellent, but I relate to the long one most of all.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Raven... I liked them all. To me, getting to know you as I read your work, they are a 'reflection' of bits of your personality, humorous - (a hag? - I think not!) caring, wondering (pointed out many of my own what-ifs). I liked the second one best, and loved the crow photo.
Seeing your own beauty and being surprised by it ... hmm ... very honest and real.
reflecting is a blessing as it gives us opportunity to view something differently,negative or positive... its about perpective.i love the opportunity of seeing ones own beauty in the eyes of a lover as you so eloquently expressed
I love the photo! It is mystical.
and your poems, your haiku, your writing always touches me, makes me feel, makes me think.
one of my nicknames at the Evil Empire Corp. was "hag of hell hall" - the gay guys named me lovingly. so there - hag can be sexy ;)
..the candid sensibilities of ur (long)poem seep through.it's really nice[so are the shorter ones!]..thank u..
I like the way, in the shorter poems, you bring out the way different perspectives affect what is seen.
I try hard not to ask 'what if' and not to dwell on the road not taken.
My smiles and heart were pulled all over the place by this series. Are we not all wrapped in reflections, I wonder. Thank you.
I like them all, Raven, but I have to say that I am partial to crows!
Methinks I missed these in my overly busy life, but am glad to notice them today. I love the second Haiku and the longer piece ‘resonates’ with some of my own ruminations. The last is marvelous! I’m leaving your OSI about Pets for later because I’ve not yet written MINE for this prompt … having only just yesterday posted mine for ‘freedom’ … Sigh! I need to plan my time better perhaps.
Hugs and blessings,
