Daily Reminder # 277

I so seldom get both girls together. Tara, as always, is hard to see.
She is a photographer's nightmare. She either blurs, moves or her
features get lost in the sunlight. Very frustrating.

Tonight's post is an testament to total self-absorption. My apologies for that., but ot was a big day here in Hancock. Delaware Opportunities came to visit. VERY early.

This was especially tough on Angel who is still seeming weary and traumatized. First off, I had to get up at 7:15 am, which, since I generally go to bed at 3:00 am is kind of like the middle of the night to Angel and Tara Grace and me. I set my alarm clock, something I never do since I can usually make myself wake up on time. But I didn't want to take any chances. So... I'm in the kitchen - remarkably energetic and wide awake - making coffee when the stupid clock (which I thought I had turned off) starts beeping. Angel is already totally stunned that I'm in the kitchen at 7 am dishing her breakfast. (Tara doesn't care.) Add this unrelenting weird beeping noise to it the already strange morning and... well... Angel's hanging low to the ground, waiting for an attack. Since walking isn't easy, I finish fixing coffee before I go deal with the annoying noise. Angel crouches, looking deeply upset.

Quiet restored, she relaxes a little, but is still troubled by my acting as though it's not the wrong time to be up. Then, as if all this isn't bad enough, a strange man comes and starts thumping around the house. Angel is very social and usually loves to check out the activities of visitors, but this guy had that "worker" energy and he had odd beepy things on his person which he waved around in the air. She started  looking for a place to hide and eventually (after contemplating something that freaked me out completely settled on a box I keep for the girls under the desk. She stayed there for the next hour or so as a huge machine was brought in and all (well not all, I'm still breathing) the air was pumped out of the house.

Is he gone yet? Is he?

Eventually - this dreadful intruder - sent from the weatherization branch of Delaware Opportunities to do an energy audit - packed up his machines and left. Apparently, my house isn't as well insulated as I thought, particularly in the crawl space where the furnace lives, so I'm losing a lot of heat that way.  Also, I learned that shutting the heat off in my spare room and closing the door does NOT save energy. Better to heat the whole house. I can feel the difference, actually. My furnace also needs work. He offered a new refrigerator, but they can't give refrigerators with a bottom freezer so I'm not sure I'm going to take them up on that. For someone who does almost everything sitting down, a bottom freezer is a God-send. The fridge my friends gave me is only 12 years old and has a 2 year old motor.  Anyway. This is on top of the other things Delaware Opportunities is going to do for me. I do think I'm watched over by angels sometimes.

Angel, however,  thinks I let monsters into her house. It has made for a very quiet day, though. Not a lot of naughtiness.  This is all probably interesting only to me.  The other blessing from today's events is lots of kitty pictures. Some good, some mediocre.. but lots.

Some things I'm grateful for today: (items in red are pre-gratitude, an attempt to inspire the Universe and my psyche to manifest good things. I need to work on patience, though. PCH gave my money to someone else. Sigh. On the other hand, I'm getting lots of free home improvements/help from Delaware Opportunities....  But I'd really like the new item on the red list. $25,000 from any source. That would be life changing.)
