Daily Reminder # 210

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.

Today's reminder is kind of all "me, me me," but it's all I've got at the moment. My apologies. It was  a good day. I spent quite a while doing reiki - for my friend Sara and my niece's cat Simon and a couple of other mini sessions on other people - and did a mini Netflix marathon of Season 1 of Eureka, a show I like very much. Then Nate and Dan came by for a short visit and brought me a Christmas present.... a 32 inch TV much newer and bigger than what I had. They rearranged the furniture a little so not only is the screen 12 inches bigger, but I can see it.... a novel concept in my house since the old one sat directly behind the computer screen. How interesting to see what I'm listening to. Interesting, isn't it,  that even though the universe didn't come through with the 22" flat screen I've been pitching for with my pre-gratitude, it did bring me an awesome new TV which I can actually watch. How cool is that? Danny also did a toy round-up for Angel so I have a big bag of ammunition for her to watch fly by and occasionally actually chase. Angel's not too happy about the TV. She liked to lie on top of the old one and I don't think this one is going to be comfortable for that. But I'm very stunned and grateful.  It was a such a non-Christmas on my end this year. All anybody got was a bag of mixed nuts. I didn't do my usual thing at Greater Good.com or buy anything for myself and yet I have still be so richly gifted. Wow.

Weatherwise, it has been a pretty good day too. The 10-12 inches of snow predicted has shrunk down to only 1-3. I'm very happy. New York City is expecting 14-16 inches. Whew! This is especially happy news since the man who usually digs me out is in prison. Not sure if it was DUI or fighting while intoxicated. Whatever it was, he won't be clearing my snow this winter. Lucky for me, my neighbors are very kind and have set up a system for dealing with Shawn's absence.

Some things I'm grateful for today (items in red are advance gratitude to encourage the universe to grant my wishes... something like that...)

  • Angel and Tara Grace
  • Nate and Dan
  • my new TV
  • tons of cat toys
  • my furnace
  • insulation
  • indoor plumbing
  • my little Christmas tree
  • reiki
  • angels
  • Dennis Puffett

  • my Bose sound system
  • my big Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes win

Daily Reminder # 209

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday. Mine was quiet but very nice. For tonight, even though it's a day late, I'm going with Neale Donald Walsh again and his Christmas message which I liked very much. I'm kind of tired so I'm going to just let Mr. Walsh and God speak for themselves.

On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
...that the reason so much of humanity commemorates
this day is that so much of humanity seeks to give and
receive love.

During this holy time, know that all times are holy, that
every religion holds truth, that each tradition is sacred,
and that it is in the simple sharing of love that we make
our beliefs come alive, and our dreams come true.

Let this Christmas Day remind us that Christ came to
invite us to offer love to all humankind, and to open the
door of God's kingdom to every soul.

Merry Christmas, everyone.
Love, Your Friend....

Daily Reminder # 208

If you click on this, it may will be easier to read... not any
better, but easier to read....

Going to let Neale Donald Walsh take our Christmas reminder. This came a few days back and I thought it was beautiful and a good Christmas message. I hope everyone has a lovely holiday and that - whether you are Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, athiest - you experience the light of peace that Christmas is supposed to represent.

I was reiki-ing a friend of mine in Ohio who was
recently diagnosed with cancer and the whole
time I worked on her the sky had these amazing
rainbow-filled clouds.

On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
..that there is a light which cannot ever be extinguished.
It is inside of you. It is you.

Let your light so shine upon the world that the world will
know Who You Really Are -- and its people will know
why they really are as well, through the light of your
example.

The darkness of our world awaits you -- not to engulf
you, but to be transformed by you. During this Season of
the Light, be its Source for all those who search for Joy.

Love, Your Friend....

Daily Reminder # 207

Thought I'd give tonight to Neale Donald Walsh again (what would I do without him?).  This was an odd one and very different. Something that I probably need to hear and think about. I'm prone to think of myself as someone who has failed to meet the challenges of my disability. I have not powered through life. I do not hobble out into the world bravely facing my panic and my pain. I cower at home alone waging war with the part of me who feels frightened and lonely and defeated and fears wheel chairs and nursing homes and dementia. Quite a number of people tell me they think I'm very brave. I think they are crazy, lying, or just too fond of me to see the truth. Anyway, here's what Neale Donald Walsh says God wants us to know on this subject.  And of course illness isn't the only challenge we face in this life... alas...  Hmmmm.

On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
..that illness is not a sign of spiritual weakness, but of
spiritual strength.

When we fall ill there are some who will say, "Why
did you create that for yourself?" They might convince
you to see it as a sign of spiritual weakness or failure.
It is not. It is a sign of spiritual strength.

All challenges are a sign a spiritual strength, and of
the readiness of the Soul to move on; to evolve even
further.
Love, Your Friend....

Daily Reminder # 206

There are not enough toys in the world for me
to watch you throw..... I am a sad kitty
It was an odd day today. I slept very badly and woke up feeling really really miserable.  Took a shower, which perked me up some but flooded the bathroom pretty thoroughly, which is always annoying. Then Shannon's mother called and asked if I could help her find something on the internet. She came over in the evening we ordered th gift for her husband and then she bought me some ink for my printer and then she offered to help me with the garbage and litter box. Went into the bathroom and decided that it needed to be cleaned out... so... I have ink for my printer, a very clean bathroom and the garbage and litter got taken care of for me. Plus, she's going to mail my gift for my great niece and nephew. Wow.  Don't have any new photos so I'm using some very old ones tonight.  I have something from Neale Donald Walsh but I think I'll save it for tomorrow.

Daily Reminder # 203

Going to go with Neale Donald Walsh again this evening.  This one is about money. I really want to improve my relationship with it, to somehow find a way to burn the lies my mother told me about myself and wanting and having out of my system.  I know with a part of my being that this is an abundant universe and that there is enough for every human being on earth to live well. I also believe (something I read) that since the Universe is infinite, there is no limit to what the All That Is can create. Nobody needs to be poor. Yet part of me fights that. Part of me thinks I am undeserving of more than subsistence. I really want that part of me to go take a flying leap off a tall cliff, land safely in the water and swim off to an island somewhere to live out its days in peace and contentment out of my head.

On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
...that money is just as holy as meditation, just as
sacred as prayer. It is a wonderful part of God.

If you hold an idea that money is the root of all evil,
you may unconsciously keep it from you. You are
invited to drop that thought now.

All the money you need is coming to you now. Do
you believe that? You must, you know...

You will not have to think but a second to understand
exactly why you received this message today.

Love, Your Friend....

Daily Reminder # 202

It was a pretty good day today.  I picked out a bunch of rocks from my collection for each of my niece's children and they are wrapped up to be mailed to Arizona for Christmas. I have to get someone to take them to the post office for me so they aren't likely to get there in time, but at least I have something to send. I enjoyed the process of picking them out. Lots of small ones for my great nephew Trevor because I'm told he likes to carry his around in a little bag.... and some bigger ones for my great niece Annika.

Then, this evening, I watched the movie A Prairie Home Companion. Not a great movie and not a bad one, but I LOVE the song in the video below. I'm not sure why. Maybe I miss my family at a Christmas time. I'm not sure why there's a picture of Lindsay Lohan (I think that's who it is) since the voices are Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin, but this one had the best sound quality.

Other than that.  Here are...

Some things I'm grateful for today (items in green are advance gratitude):
  • movies/Netflix
  • Angel and Tara Grace
  • Rocks

Daily Reminder # 201

Another Neale Donald Walsh offering tonight. I thought it was interesting that this one came the day after I had my therapy session with Dr. Jim talking about my eternal struggle against the belief that I am selfish and greedy. The Universe works sometimes (always, really) in mysterious ways.

On this day of your life, dear friend,
I believe God wants you to know...
..that kindness is one of your wonderful traits, but
where you really shine is in your generosity.

It is one thing to be kind, and you are that. Yet it is quite
another thing to also be unfailingly generous--with your
time, your talent and energy, your willingness to
"be there" for others, and yes, with you money.

You are a generous person, and that takes kindness
to a new level. Be happy in the knowingness of this.

Love, Your Friend....
